You’ve gotta love a good Freudian slip. Even if it’s just an innocent mistake, it makes for a good laugh. We need some levity in our lives.

But Freudian slips also help reveal a person’s true feelings and beliefs about something. It’s fascinating how the truth has a way of revealing itself.

There have been a few entertaining slip-ups since Israel’s invasion of Gaza in October 2023. Following are a few such examples (emphasis added).

  • In October 2023, Israeli envoy Amir Maimon: “People are trying to suggest that there is some sort of moral equivalence. There is no moral equivalence. We are not the victims. Sorry, we are the victims. We are not the aggressor, sorry.”
  • In November 2023, Israeli journalist Tal Heinrich stated: “Uh, but I can tell you that we are not targeting anyone else in Gaza but civilians.”
  • In November 2023, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was oh so close in calling for a ceasefire, but couldn’t bring himself to do so: “We need to see a cease…uh, we need to see a humanitarian pause so we can flow…uh, we need to see a ceasing of, of the levels of violence that we’re seeing.”
  • In November 2023, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said this: “Sweden and the EU stand united in that Israel has the right to genocide..self-defense!”
  • In January 2024, an anti-Palestinian girl speaking at a city council meeting said this: “And I would like to use the rest of my time to say how appalled I am that people are bringing up the Holocaust. Do not use other genocides to describe this one.”
  • US President Joe Biden said this about Israel’s attack on Rafah in February 2024: “As I said yesterday, our military operation in Rafah…”

Wouldn’t it be easier if we all lived a life based on truth? We wouldn’t have to constantly work to keep a falsehood going, and we wouldn’t have to battle our conscience. We would simply say and do what is right.
