Lawyers act according to what their clients ask or permit them to do. If it's unIslamic, a religious lawyer should advice the client. If the client refused, the lawyers can withdraw himself to represent the client.
If all Muslims dont want to be a lawyer, who would defend/advice Muslims in Court?
Regarding to my country, it's not a lawyer's or judge's duty to Islamize a secular law charge. So it's not haraam. Furthermore, the duty of Advocates & Solicitors in Malaysia is to advice the client regarding to procedures, charges, punishments etc. There's no Hudud Laws (Islamic Criminal Laws) in Malaysia.
i would think these days, muslims could use all the good lawyers they can get!
Before 1980, only 10% of the lawyers are Muslims, now it's 50%. Thanks to International Islamic University Malaysia for producing 1,000+ Muslim lawyers per year.
