Let's see what our Malaysian members' views are on the issue of religion in their country's politcal structure. Non-Malaysians are also welcome to express their views.

Shouldnt you as a Muslim be supporting the Islamic Party since they want to bring Islamic Influence into politics and most citizens of Malaysia are Muslim?
There is a debate in Malaysia about this, some non-Muslim Malaysians think Islamic Law will interfere in their lives but i thought Islamic Sharia is only applicable for Muslims.

Re: Malaysians, do you support Islamists or Nationalists in politics?
I hate polls........
These kinds of polls give black and white options for everything. The world we are currently living in, is not black and white. I am not a nationalist so that option would never be applicable (here comes the however), however, given the choice between a 'just' nationalist movement and a corrupt religious movement what what would a person choose?
As a muslim i am always inclined to say the 'Islamic' movement, however, for a muslim to say i support the 'Islamic' movement we should know what kind of islam is being preached and/or going to be implemented. Is it a 'just' Islam being proposed or is it something else entirely.
Life isnt always black and white, there is just way too much greyness around.

Generally Speaking:
Support neither manipulated-Islamists nor Secular Nationalists. Both love but themselves.
State should be run by Qualified Nationals guided by a far-sighted man of mighty morals so that the Nation moves towards prosperity + justice + peace.
Correct me if I am wrong.

It is anonymously agreed that our levelof understanding of Islam is below par and we have fallen short in general. We have to make a continued effort to gain correct knowledge and share it as best as we can amongst our fellow people.

I am a Malaysian Muslim and I support the Islamists(PAS),because they haven't given any chance to show up their actual ability in ruling a country like Malaysia, and there is no problem for me to accept Islamists(PAS)

ZAM: OPPOSITION MAY FIELD "PHANTOM" CANDIDATE
PENANG: Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin believes that the opposition will have a "phantom" independent candidate to gauge the Barisan Nasional's popularity in the Batu Talam by-election.
By doing so, he said, opposition supporters would not be demoralised if the Barisan retained the seat with a bigger majority.
"The Barisan's victory will also not be seen as a defeat for the opposition," he said after attending a residents' gathering at Taman Free School here yesterday.
Zainuddin said he growing clout of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was the real reason the opposition parties were staying away from the by election. ( what a joke!!!)
"They are scared to challange the Barisan because of Abdullah's effective leadership," he said.
He said PAS did not have any issues to fish for votes as they have been "CONVERTED" into becoming good Muslims by RTM (Radio Television Malaysia)
Zainuddin said there was talk that many candidates would stand as independents to tale advantage of the election "harvesting" time.
"They thing they can get some money by doing this," he added.
