Never.

I came close to it, put then i snapped out of it just in time Alhamdulillah. :exhausted

or several. Personally I could never do that. I know in Islam men are allowed to have up to four wives but can someone explain to me the reason for why that is. Also do any muslimas husbands also have other wives? How do you feel about that?

Well it could be that the first wife could not have a baby. That is why the husband might get married again, with the first wife permission.

not me, insha-Allah. I want my husband all to myself and I don't want to hurt another woman by marrying her husband.

...after two husbands????!!!! ..... I am still a viable woman, and would want a husband, Inshaallah. I don't want the headaches and the horror of what I have experienced with the past two, Inshaallah.
:(

I could do so. Actually I was the second wife in my first marriage.

:D

:sl:

I would rather be single then have to share my husband!

If we can't have kids there's always adoption, if I were to get sick he should be there to take care of me and if he has the means he could support a divorcee or widow, I wouldn't mind.

I know Islam allows polygamy and I do not dispute that, I just wouldn't be willing to share my partner with another women never mind 3 others!

Its funny how the prophet advised Ali not to take a second wife, as it would hurt fatima......i have always wondered at this, and so has my mother, especially as my father took a second wife when i was younger, and it turned our lives upside down.

^
So it sounds like Muhammed very much took the feelings of Fatima into account, when he gave the advice.
That's very interesting (and very heartening too :))

Though I do not encourage marriage threads/discussions between brothers and sisters because of the sensitivity of this topic specially since many brothers and sisters desire marriage but they know neither the rights of the spouses nor responsibilities of marriage, may I please remind everyone to discuss this topic with maturity otherwise do not participate as viewing this thread may be enough for you.

There is much more to family and society then marriage and the developement and reform of any society begins with the improvement of ones own self so please do not engage in useless conversations.

The Qur'an and Sunnah are clear on these issues so please refer to them before your own opinions.

lol. think i shud be looking for 4 salafi women :P
i personally think the number of wives one going to have is qadr

do you truly respect Dr. Al-Qaradawi in his entirety or do you just like this one quote because of your politics?

NB. I'll explain my reason for asking later depending on reply I receive
