Osama bin Laden's kin disowned him in 1980s
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Wealthy Saudi businessman Muhammad bin Laden and his eldest son had disowned bombing suspect Osama bin Laden in the 1980s, say associates of the late Salem bin Laden.
Osama, Salem's younger half-brother, always was considered the "black sheep of the family," said San Antonio lawyer Wayne Fagan, who represented Salem from 1982 until his death in 1988.

"Salem, God bless him, is turning over in his grave. The family, they agonized over (Osama bin Laden) and outcast him from the family since the early '80s," Fagan said.

Charles Schwartz, a Houston lawyer who represented the bin Laden estate in a 1991 lawsuit in Bexar County, said the family "disowned" and "disavowed" Osama after he went to Afghanistan in 1980 to join the fight against the Soviet occupation of that country.

Salem bin Laden came to Texas in 1973 looking for the pilot who had flown for his father, Muhammad, before his death in 1967.

Jerry Auerbach worked for Salem bin Laden for years, first as a pilot in Saudi Arabia and later as an aviation manager for his company in San Antonio, when bin Laden lived in Marble Falls.

Binladen Aviation was incorporated in Austin and was dissolved shortly after Salem's death at the age of 42 in an ultralight crash near Garden Ridge, Texas.

Auerbach said he never met Osama bin Laden, the younger, more radical brother whose activities were targeted this week by U.S. military strikes.

Remember when the prophet s.a.w fled makkah and the quraish came to house in the night to kill him, the prophet s.a.w escaped right under their noses. Osama free and still making videos is not "useful" whatsoever, especially to the Bush administration. The American people aren't dumb enough to believe by capturing Osama it will end terrorism or the threat of it.

Why would anybody want to capture Osama anyway?


If captured it would be necessary to convict him with irrefutable evidence that even his strongest allies would have to agree with. If captured and he was not condemned by the entire world as a terrorist, his capture would be seen as persecution and cause a gigantic backlash.

Worse scenario is is he is killed in a capture attempt. He would then become an undefeatable martyr and have more srength indeath then he ever had in life.

For the Western world it is far better for him to remain free and be a prisoner in trying to stay safe. By being a fugitive in hiding he can eventualy be ignored and forgotten about.

Snake legs would you agree that even in America, it is sometimes hard for law enforcement to find a suspect they are after?

Would you also agree that in most of those cases, the suspects don’t have as much support in their hiding from the law as Ben Laden does?

Would you also agree that the area, Ben Laden is believed to hiding in, has many folks that view him positively?


Do you also agree that, it seems a little bit foolish to believe that the money being offered for Ben Laden’s capture is just being discounted by everyone, because “nobody really wants to find him”?

I am not promoting nobody. I just simply made the point to sister nennar that regardless of U.S technology, if Allah s.w.t wills that OBL will be found, then he will be found, technology or technology. If not, then he wont. Its simple as.

Umm no. America gave mony to the Mujahdeen that was backed by Pakistan. The US had absolutely no contact with Osama. Actually Osama was in the Sudan at the time the US was supporting the war in Afghanistan in the 80s
