as salamu aleiykum wtr,
i'm open this new thread as it's suggested by sista syilla
hihi...
First, let me introduce my country; Sarawak سراواك
Sarawak is one of the two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. Known as Bumi Kenyalang ("Land of the Hornbills"), somehow quite known as Land of Head Hunters because of its ancient stories. Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia. The administrative capital is Kuching (Cats City), the place where I'm staying right now.
Sarawak is home to 28 ethnic groups (i think it is more than that), each with their own distinct language, culture and lifestyle. The major ethnic of this land is Ibans, follow up by Chinese, Bidayuh, Melanau and Malays. Oh, btw my mom is Dayak Iban.
Sarawakians practice a variety of religions, including Islam, Christians, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and animism. Many converts to Christians among the Dayak people. My mom's was animism before she converted to Islam and married my dad (which is pure muslim of Mindanao).
*I'm less exposed to my dad cultures. I'm grew up among my Christians cousins. One of them has converted to Islam. Yet there, I'm thankful I'm born as a muslim.
