    Hadeeth of the day (OP)

As salaam alekum ( Peace be upon you)

Hadeeth means the words, actions, approval or attributes that have been narrated from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

    Narrated Muawiya bin Suwald:

I heard Al-Bara' bin 'Azib saying, "The Prophet (S.A.W) orders us to do seven things and prohibited us from doing seven other things." Then Al-Bara' mentioned the following:--

    (1) To pay a visit to the sick (inquiring about his health),

    (2) to follow funeral processions,

    (3) to say to a sneezer, "May Allah be merciful to you" (if he says, "Praise be to Allah!"),

    (4) to return greetings,

    (5) to help the oppressed,

    (6) to accept invitations,

    (7) to help others to fulfill their oaths.

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “He who stirs enmity among people, by quoting their words to each other, will not enter Paradise.” [Bukhari]

Unfortunately, this is a common social evil these days. Rather than mend relations among people, Shaytaan has us excited about carrying tales to each other. “You won’t believe what he did!...Can you imagine what she said?...”

Refuse to listen to what other people have said or done. It is backbiting, just to hear it. If what you are being told about is not true, it is an even bigger sin, both for the person telling it and the person listening to it. If you tell yourself not to believe everything you hear, your heart will nevertheless be tainted by it. That is why the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told his companions not to say things about each other to him, since he didn't want to meet them with disquiet in his heart. If Rasul Allah's feelings for people had the possibility of getting soured by hearing tales about them, despite his being rehmat-ul-lil-alameen, then we are certainly not above being corrupted by listening to tales.

The people who carry tales from one person to another, do it in the guise of well wishers. First they sympathize with one party. Then they take what they have gleaned to other people and sow discord, ruining relations between people, by repeating things. A person who behaves in such a manner is being two faced. Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “You find that among the worst people is someone who is two-faced, showing one face to some and another face to others.” [Bukhari]

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “When one of you looks at one who stands at a higher level than you in regard to wealth and physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level than you in regard to these things.” [Muslim]

Comparing ourselves to people whom Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has given better looks to, more money to, nicer possessions to, better education to, higher status to, etc., is a common cause for our showing ingratitude to Allah. We then automatically discard the blessings that Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) has bestowed on us and can think of only that which we are lacking and someone else has. There will always be something more that we could have.

However, Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) is the Originator of all Good/Khair. Nothing comes from Him that is not good. Therefore, we should not have the attitude, that when we see ourselves having the blessings of this world we say, "Rabbi akraman" (Allah has blessed/honoured me) and when we face anything lacking in our lives we say, "Rabbi ahanun" (Allah has humiliated me). A believer always says "Rabbi akraman" only, since in his or her every affair Allah is honouring them.

Human beings are greedy and ungrateful by nature. Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that even if we were given two valleys full of gold we would wish for a third and there would be no end to our greed till we died. Therefore, the advice of the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) makes perfect sense that whenever we get to see people who have more or better than what we have, we should immediately look at those people too who have less or worse than what we have. Only then will we be able to remain thankful to Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “All of my ummah are apt to be forgiven, except for those who commit sins openly.” [Bukhari]

When a person commits a crime in public, justice demands that the criminal be punished. The purpose of punishment is that it acts as a deterrent. If a criminal is not punished, it provides an incentive to all would be criminals to go ahead.

Similarly, so long as a sin is known only to the sinner and Allah, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) may forgive it. But when sin is committed publicly, the punishment becomes incumbent on the sinner. Sinning publicly shows a person's insensitivity towards the enormity of what they are doing. Seeing sins taking place in public, also desensitizes other people to the sin, taking them one step closer to doing it themsleves. This is why, even if we are to find out about immoral activities happening, we should not broadcast them, for to do so would further spread evil in society.

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his, and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer: For if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (Allah), thus there is good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (enduring it patiently), there is good for him in it.” [Muslim]

A Muslim is thus truly blessed, regardless of the circumstances of his/her life. A non-Muslim considers himself fortunate only if he is healthy, wealthy, happy and more. But a Muslim is lucky all the time. This is because he/she is accruing reward for Jannah whether they are healthy or terminally ill, prosperous or needy, relaxing in palaces or rotting in jails. This is indeed a unique favour of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to his pious servants.*

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “The world is a prison for a believer and Paradise for a non-believer.” [Muslim]

A believer is ever mindful of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). Therefore, he/she is not free to do what they please. They cannot wait to get to Jannah where they will have no restrictions of any kind, no suffering, no sacrifice, and no separation from their loved ones. That is why this world feels like a prison to them. Those believers who are even more cognizant of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) are in even more pain because of their separation from Him.

An ashiq/lover always yearns to join his Beloved (subhana wa ta’ala). This is the sole thought occupying his or her mind.

You are the true innermost desire of my heart,
Love of You is the deepest thought in my mind.
Whenever I glance at the world around me,
I find that today there was naught but You,
And that tomorrow holds naught but You.

When an ashiq looks around, he finds the heedless people of the world trapped in their desires. To him the world seems like a cage.

On the other hand, a person who is not mindful of Allah, does whatever they feel like, or whatever they think they can get away with. There are indeed many things that can be enjoyed in this world. A person who is not looking forward to meeting their Lord, would spend their every moment trying to maximize their enjoyment here, short-lived though it is.

Thus, the non-believer can find this world to be a Paradise. But the believer knows that no happiness here is everlasting and that they are always in danger of falling into the hands of Shaytaan. They, therefore, long to get out of the exam that this world is and into the safety of the grave.

    Hadith Qudsi 7:
On the authority of Uqbah ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), who
said: I heard the messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:

Your Lord delights at a shepherd who, on the peak of a mountain crag, gives
the call to prayer and prays. Then Allah (glorified and exalted be He) say: Look
    at this servant of Mine, he gives the call to prayer and performs the prayers;
he is in awe of Me. I have forgiven My servant [his sins] and have admitted him
    to Paradise.

It was related by an-Nasa'i with a good chain of authorities.

That's great Hadith, jazaak Allah Khair for sharing Longing for death is wanting an easy way out, there is no cheating in this great test of life in this dunya. We should be grateful for each day, because each day is a new opportunity to fix our mistakes and become better Muslims. If we long for death it only shows our ungreatfulness, because Allah doesn't place a burden that you cannot handle, u just have to figure out how it handle it and grow.

    Re: Hadeeth of the day

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said that Shaytaan sits on his throne daily and dispatches his agents to work among human beings. One of the agents returns and says that I made a certain person commit a sin, another says I got so and so involved in this offence. Upon listening to all this, Shaytaan says that you have done nothing great. Eventually, one representative comes and says that I saw a husband and wife extremely devoted to each other. I sowed the seeds of enmity between them. On hearing this, Shaytaan becomes happy and embracing his agent says that you have indeed achieved something great. [Mishkat]

The love between a husband and wife is the biggest blow to Shaytaan. From this it is apparent how meritorious this love is. The Islamic prescription for success in married life is based on taqwa, fear, love, and consciousness of Allah. Taqwa -- the basis for all aspects of Islamic life -- is especially relevant to the household. That is why Sura Nisa, which contains many commands regarding the rights and responsibilities of spouses, begins with repeated reminders of taqwa.

To fight Shaytaan, one needs Allah's help and it comes with taqwa, i.e. living with the awareness that Allah is watching us and will hold us accountable for our actions. A direct and far reaching consequence of this awareness is that a fight for rights is replaced by a concern for responsibilities. One's responsibilities are other's rights. A Muslim husband and wife will be concerned with discharging their duties toward each other. This provides for a home that is a model of peace, love and harmony.
