So let's take this thread to share our awkward moments...
So here's one I had just last week or so. We had guest sleeping over at our house. And I was walking down the hallway when the Uncle asked what time I come back from work. I found that odd, since I don't have a job, but anyway, I said "I come back from school at 11". I mean, he asked the question while looking at me. And after I answered, he continued to stare at me and then my dad said he was talking to him, not me.... It was embarrassing and awkward.
Another one is sort of sad. We went to Boston, to visit my uncle, who unfortunately is cross eyed. So my brother and I were standing there, and he asked one of us how old we were. He was looking at me, but it seemed like his eyes were pointing towards my brother. So during the process of the conversation, my brother had to nudge me as to when he was asking me, and when he was asking him.
when I was in afghanistan we were doing security at a checkpoint when a family came by on some camels. I never seen one before so I ran up to pet one and it spit all over my face. the other soldiers and the family started laughing at me. I felt very awkward.

Laughing and crying lol? Haven't experienced that.
I was in my bedroom, curtains were closed, lights were switched off and I thought the door was locked. I was going to watch a movie on my laptop and did not want to be disturbed. The movie was loading, so I started to swirl around on my chair, raising my arms in the air and started to laugh like a maniac (I don't know why I did this).
My relative came in and I stopped...she didn't say anything and I think I scared her...she closed the door.
I was looking at myself talking to myself and I realized this conversation...I was having with myself looking at myself was a conversation with myself that I needed to have with myself.

eating my cousins plate completely to see him come in and find it empty and then i find my plate full on the other side of the table.
calling a senior and respected auntie an Uncle due to talking to fast and getting too excited.
taking my brother in laws socks to school leaving him to go to work sockless, came back home and my sister goes "you didnt realise your socks were different?"
having an auntie over the phone ask "guess who" and replying "certainly a man!" truelly believing it to be so due to the masculine voice
I shall put more as i remember them inshAllah

My tears testify that i have a heart

But what is awkward is when people stare at you if you dress as a muslimah or a muslim

wow...lol sudden burst of energy?
My mom tried to tell me that I occasionally sleepwalk and supposedly we have conversations during this time but I dont remember any of it so I denied it.
But i believe her now bc I woke up in the middle of the night once and my light (which is halfway across the room) was on and I was standing in the middle of my room calling my mom it was so akward i didnt understand how it happened and I was embarrased for myself so I quickly just turned off my light and went back to sleep

I'm not sure why I did that...I do random things.
Sleep waking? It sounds fun.

Reminds me of when we had guests from a different city. One of the ladies was really old, and she fell ill I think so she was lying down with a blanket covering her face.
I came home from work, saw someone lying down and could only see a bit of their scarf peeking out so I assumed it was my gran .(she has the same one) I went to her, said 'And who's lying here, then?' in an incredibly loud, sing-song voice and lifted the blanket off her face. I was too gobsmacked to do anything when I realised I was looking at a stranger.
I love this thread. It's hilarious, especially the one about saying "welcome" in the wrong setting.
I don't have any really interesting awkward stories, but I have noticed that sometimes I will tell someone something for a second time, and then later realised I already told them it before.
Then, I wonder what they were thinking as I was telling them and why they didn't stop me.
Also, sometimes someone will tell me something and then later, I will tell that person what someone told me... and it was them that told me.
Thankfully that happened once with a good friend of mine and she just said, "[Name], I'm the one that told you, stupid!"

I really hate when bros give salams and then they offer you their hand to shake
(Stop it!!! to those bros that do it btw)

I can't speak Urdu fluently btw. There was this joke in my head that I found really funny so I decided to tell my uncles and aunties about it, and that too in Urdu. I thought I was talking perfectly but they didn't understand a word I was saying - I was the only one laughing at my own joke :|
