i hope every one will enjoy these riddles
They are not really mine but some of them are
i got looooads so i thought i will start a thread of riddles.
Now lets see...........where shall i start.........
lets start with one of my riddles.......
Once me and my dad was on our way to school in Kuwait.
He asked me that........
I have some apples in my right hand and some in the left hand. Now, if I minus an apple from my left hand and add it to my right hand, then both of my hands has equal no. of apples. And if I minus an apple from my right hand and add it to my left hand, then my left hand contains double the no. of apples as in my right hand. How many apples do I have in each of the hands?
i was verrrrry confused. i went to school and asked my friends but none of them knew the answer. i asked everyone i knew but none of them could get it. but then i came home and asked him for the answer and he told me.........Well i was very small at that time anyway
So give this riddle some tries and i will be back with another brainteasing one insha'allah. But my first 21 riddles are going to be on Maths .
The Prophet said, "Nobody who enters Paradise likes to go back to the world even if he got everything on the earth, except a Mujahid who wishes to return to the world so that he may be martyred ten times because of the dignity he receives (from Allah)."
Subhanallah.....i made a great mistake . forgive me for that. its meant to be some apples on one side and some on the other side.
it was long ago you see and i almost forgot i was 9 at that time....almost 6 years ago.
Sorry
The ages of a father and son add up to 66. The father's age is the son's age reversed.
How old could they be? (3 possible solutions).
this one should be abit easier for the ones who are good in maths......so give it a try...i am sure there are lots of ppl in this forum who are xtremely good at maths..........
when i reach the 5th riddle i will probably answer the first question if no one gets the answer to it.......
Good one.
Simple algebra.
Let R rep. apples in right hand, L rep. apples in left hand.
if I minus an apple from my left hand and add it to my right hand, then both of my hands has equal no. of apples
L-1=R+1
L=R+2
(the left hand has two more apples than the right hand)
And if I minus an apple from my right hand and add it to my left hand, then my left hand contains double the no. of apples as in my right hand.
2(R-1)=L+1
Since L=R+2, then...
2(R-1)=(R+2)+1
2R-2=R+3
2R=R+5 R=5
IF R=5 and L=R+2, then L=(5)+2=7
There are seven apples in the left and five apples in the right.
That was from ages ago. Hope everyone enjoyed the simple math lesson.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Surely I was sent to perfect the qualities of righteous character" [Musnad Ahmad, Muwatta Mâlik]
hmmm.. interesting. I was waiting to see if someone else would give it a try, but I guess I'll give this one a shot as well.
By "reversed" I assume you mean that is the father's age is 56, then the son's age is 65?
Okay, let's take a look at the question then. We will just set up some matrices.
The age's must be two digit numbers since they add up to 66.
If the father's age is represented by [x y], then the son's age is represented by [y x]. From the question, we know that:
[x y] + [y x] = [6 6]
Therefore, any value that satisfies the equation x+y=6, is an acceptable digit of the ages. Possible substituions include:
1+5=6, 2+4=6, 3+3=6
Therefore, the possible ages of the father and the son (respectively) are:
51 and 15
24 and 42
the last one (33 and 33) is inadmissable because the father and the son cannot be of the same age.
Is this correct?
I first thought it was 33 but than remembered the father and son couldn't be the same age  ..your really smart :brother:

seems Tagrid is off for a while now, so i'll take time posting one easy question for all [except Ansar ]till she's bak wid more stuff :
One tap can fill a tank in 2 hrs while another can empty it in 3 hrs.
If both of them r opened together, the time taken to fill the tank [in hrs] is : .... ??
I am back . i was busy revising for my exams so i couldnt post any more riddles.....let me try zAk's one...is it .............
no tap can empty a bucket, so it takes only 2 hours to fill a bucket:confused:
my riddle.......jus say........ I am the owner of a pet store. If I put in one canary per cage, I have one bird too many. If I put in two canaries per cage, I have one cage too many. How many cages and canaries do I have?
this involves algebra aswell.....so brother Ansar Al-Hoque will find it waaaaaaaaaay easy.

is this meant to be sumhow confusing? lol, coz in the first part of the riddle: it takes 2 hours to FILL the tank, and in the secnd part u say it takes 3 hours to EMPTY it. so err, it doesnt fill since its emptying it too :zip:
probably wrong but wortha try.

Wassalam Tagrid
hmm. i think its 4 birds and 3 cages:
2 birds per cage:
1st cage = 2 birds
2nd cage = 2 birds
3rd cage = no birds
1 bird per cage:
1st cage = 1 bird
2nd cage = 2nd bird
3rd cage = 3rd bird
no fourth cage for last bird
Someone said to the Prophet, "Pray to God against the idolaters and curse them." The Prophet replied, "I have been sent to show mercy and have not been sent to curse." (Muslim)
hmm. i think its 4 birds and 3 cages:
2 birds per cage:
1st cage = 2 birds
2nd cage = 2 birds 3rd cage = no birds
I don't think you can have an extra cage..all cages have to have a/some birds in it..
1 bird per cage:
1st cage = 1 bird
2nd cage = 2nd bird
3rd cage = 3rd bird no fourth cage for last bird
again...i think all the birds have 2 be in a cage :zip:

A tap that empties water? Let's assume its like a drain.
speed = -(1/3)tank/h
Assuming the second tap drains while the first tap fills simultaneously with no delay or interference, then
speed = [(1/2)-(1/3)]tank/h
=(1/6)tank/h
=1tank/6h
Therefore, it takes 6 hours to fill one tank at this rate.
Masha'Allah bro you're really good at this
