Therefore it is safer to order on a website because you get guaranteed
and you have an after sales service.

There are unfortunately many unscrupulous people who dirty the image of the honey exception.

Actually we got it as a gift from a Yemeni friend and were sending it home to our parents along with the some other stuff through a local shipping agent. all the items we sent were received, except for the honey. About 3000 saudi riyals worth if i'm not mistaken.

The cargo shipments by air and sea are routinely checked by customs.

And the customs are a list of banned products and honey from Yemen is party.

So I do not think it comes from your friend if you do not have honey, but rather the local customs.

To prepared for this possibility we ship all orders by parcel post and for now, al hamdouliLlah, no problem.

Re: Sidr honey of Yémen - the best of the world

To be honest, I would never buy honey online. Especially yemani 3sal. I dont wana open up the box and find walmarts "burleson" honey in the package that I paid $100 for. I rather buy it if I visit the country or if someone is coming or going there.

I understand your point of view.
But we know that the market for honey in yemen is a very tough market with many dishonest people.
The tourists visiting Yemen are for the most part, no notion of what the Yemeni honey and honey often leave with a poor quality thinking they bought the best.
As for us, we operate in Yemen since 2009 and have forged a special relationship our local partners.
This allows us to be sure of the quality we offer to our customers as we test each honey that we offer.
That is why it is more advantageous to go through an intermediary who knows the country, its customs and honey.

A few years ago, I saw an advert for a brand of honey from New Zealand. I bought honey online a few times in the past; the results of what I received are:

First order: Something which tasted quite similar to Weetabix; it turned out to be a product of Wheat.

I placed an order several times; each time the product varied slightly in taste and content. The last container tasted of prunes. I know not a single container contained honey, as its quite easy distinguishing between honey, wheat and prunes. One point to note: genuine honey doesn't contain vegetable oil.

I haven't bought honey online since.

For information, we are in the process of working with a great French chef (5 stars by Michelin Guide) and a luxury boutique in Paris specializing in honeys.

We are so far the only ones offering wooden boxes with nine varieties of Yemeni honey on all the European market.

And we'll be the first to be present in gourmet food shops.

That would not be possible if we had bad products or services of poor quality

Re: Sidr honey of Yémen - the best of the world

Sept. 22, 2008 -- If you start poking around into the history of honey, you'll find the stuff is revered in many early cultures.

Honey is mentioned in the Bible, it was used to preserve corpses by the ancient Egyptians, was considered sacred during the time of Buddha, and the prophet Muhammad espoused its potential healing properties.

But it's only been in recent times that science has been able to prove and explain the benefits that honey holds.

Now a new study from researchers at the University of Ottawa shows honey to be effective in killing bacteria that cause chronic sinusitis.

    Honey Kills Bacteria

Chronic sinusitis affects millions of people every year.

In chronic sinusitis, the mucous membranes in the sinus cavities become inflamed, causing headaches, stuffy nose, and difficulty breathing.

Though it can be caused by allergies, chronic sinusitis can also be caused by bacteria that colonize in the nose and sinuses.

    That's where honey may help.

Researchers, led by Tala Alandejani, MD, at the University of Ottawa, tested two honeys, manuka and sidr.

Manuka honey comes from the manuka bush, also known as the tea tree bush, in New Zealand.

Sidr honey comes from the sidr tree in Yemen, an ancient and sacred tree mentioned in spiritual texts. It's one of the world's most expensive honeys.

Researchers singled out three particularly nasty bacteria: two strains of staph bacteria, MSSA (methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus) and MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), and one called Pseudomonas aeriginosa (PA).

The two types of honey were effective in killing the bacteria. Even bacteria growing in a biofilm, a thin, slimy layer formed by bacteria that affords resistance to antibiotics, were susceptible to honey.

The researchers also found that the two types of honey worked significantly better than an antibiotic against MSSA and MRSA, according to past research.

    Here's the breakdown of results:
    • Sidr honey was 63% effective in killing MSSA.
    • Sidr honey was 73% effective in killing MRSA.
    • Sidr honey was 91% effective in killing PA.
    • Manuka honey was 82% effective in killing MSSA.
    • Manuka honey was 63% effective in killing MRSA.
    • Manuka honey was 91% effective in killing PA.
Scientists hope the results can help lead to a new treatment for people with chronic sinusitis.

One note of caution: Infants one year or younger should never be given honey because it could become toxic in their underformed intestinal tract, causing illness or even death.

The study is being presented at the 2008 American Academy of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery annual meeting in Chicago.

I understand it to be a sort of 'sampler' but how different can it look from what you've presented? I do need it to come in the wooden box, since it is all about the presentation really!
