    I need help understanding

    Report bad ads?

    Hello my dear friends,
I am a Christian and my girlfriend is Muslim. ( we fell in love before discussing our faith, not that it would’ve made a difference ) all I want to do is understand her better and to help her be the best version of her that she can be. I severed in the army in Afghanistan which was the catalyst for my Islamic study’s but being with her made it all the more important to me. I read both the Quran and Hadith. And I came across somethings I need help with. And I believe to learn Spanish you go to a Spanish speaker so if you want I learn about Islam go to Muslims. I read that Allahs word is eternal and His spirit is eternal as well as Allah himself. I also read that in the end His word and his spirit will appear as pale men alongside Himself. That sounds to close to the trinity to not address. Can someone explain this to me? (Not assuming anything about the people here but I’ve experienced negative Actions from people while being Christian and questioning Muslims so if you are just going to talk to me like I’m an idiot or bash on me for not being in line with Islam please just pass this post) thanks and may the creator of all things bless you

    Hi

Welcome to Islamic Board. There is nothing in Islam that says that. Where have you read that?

Allah will not appear to anyone in this life.

    Sunan Ibn Majah 3781

It was narrated from Ibn Buraidah that his father told that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:
"The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection, like a pale man, and will say: 'I am the one that kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day."

    Re: I need help understanding

Ehm...the hadeeth is true...but your understanding of it is false.
In Islaam we are continulusly remembered that everything...literally everything will witness during judgement day.
Our feet will witness about where we walked
Our tongues will witness about what we talked
Our hands what we took or touched.
The quraan we used to read from will witness how much we read.
    Our offered prayers will witness.
    Our fastings will witness.
Every good deed and bad deed will be discussed...nothing left uncovered.

That is what is meant with the Quraan will appear as a pale man.
I do not know what you mean with the spirit thing.

But there is no trinity going on here.

Ok thank you and I love that you guys are understanding and are so willing to answer me.
ok here’s one. I understand that the Quran says Issa didn’t die on the cross but it was made to look like he did. What evidence is there that, that actually took place

If there were evidence for that (evidence like in cold hard scientific evidence) then there wouldn't be christians at all. Science cannot answer everything. So, where science ends, faith begins.
So this is a point where you cannot get your answer from science, so you need to start believing.

    Re: I need help understanding

You see that’s the problem I’m having because I have had faith in the death resurrection and deity of Christ almost all of my life until I became atheist and then found my way back to Christ. I was close to converting to Islam until an imam told me that Allah has a love for Muslims that he doesn’t have for others and told me straight to my face that I was the worst of creatures according to Islam and that drove me away from it. How do I enter into Islam without fear of hell when all I’ve ever known tells me that if I don’t believe that Christ is God I will burn for all time? I cry out to God and ask him to send me something that will put my on the path to heaven and the only two options I can see that leads there is Christianity or Islam but they both say they will make it and the other won’t. And all I get is silence. I won’t to love God who ever he is but I can’t if I don’t know who I’m loving. I’m so confused.

Ehm...Did you ever wonder what the purpose of life is? why do we live? what is our goal? Why did God create this world with misery, injustice, suffering etc?
Why are we humans created as weak, lazy and stubborn creatures? we surely could serve God better if we were strong and fast and always obedient wouldn't we?
Why is hell eternal? Why did God create the people who end up in Hell anyway?

Those are questions you need to answer in order to understand what is going on, and once you have found the right answer and understand it as a whole, you will automatically end up with Islaam.

What the imaam was trying to tell you:
We know that the angels are powerfull creatures, they are strong, fast, never get sleepy or tired, never hungry, always obedient.
It seems that the angels are the best of all creatures, right?

We humans compared to angels are just weak creatures...however, we have free will which makes us very very valuable.
You see, God is almighty, He does not need anything...So we do not need to be powerful to serve God. All we need is willingness to do that.

We humans CHOOSE to serve God. We have free will, we can choose not to...but we voluntairily choose to serve God, and that exactly makes us more valuable than the angels.
They do not have that option.

And that exactly was your imaam trying to tell you...that if you use your free will to serve God, you will be the best of creatures...so if you don't, you will be the worst of creatures.

About Islaam or Christianity...it is your own choice...But if I may speak my point of view, Islaam is the latest religion, meant for everyone...with the message permanently preserved, embraces science, gives good guidance, hope and comfort...so basically, everything you need as a human.

    Re: I need help understanding

thanks for the compliment...that means a lot to me.

Yes, there is a lot to discuss...most of the questions non-muslims ask about Islaam are somehow linked together. So, once you figure out how everything linked, you see the whole picture, and everything will start making sense as a giant puzzle.

If I may give you an advise: whatever you choose, do not choose to be an atheist...you will lose everything. Atheism may sound attractive, but there is nothing it can offer you what Islaam can't, except living in ignorance and denial.

You think, atheism is on the side of science? atheism is on the side of logic? it makes sense?

If we as muslims believe that God created everything, including the laws of nature, and how things behave and react with each other....
and we realize that true science is a tool for us humans to understand and explain how the universe we live in works (which is Gods creation)

then you come to realize that Islaam ALSO is on the side of science and logic. there is no other option because why would God create something and teach us something else?

The bad thing about atheism is that they ignore questions like, what is the purpose of life? why are you here right now? what happens when you die?
They believe that their existence is a mere coincidence, so they have no purpose in life, they have no goal...and nothing happens when they die...they just vanish.

Islaam gives you answers on those questions where Atheism is silent.

They think, that if they can explain it with science, there is no need for God anymore...but they do not realize, they can have both.
They think evolution is a fact, which is not, but even if it was a cold hard fact...there is still a God behind the scenes, using evolution as a tool to create new creatures...to make evolution possible...
It does not need to be either science or God...it can be both.

God is profound and beyond my understanding. We are first chosen by God, but the same God seems to chooses us in different ways. In Islam, Allah chooses whom he wills, and in Christianity we are chosen by God and by Christ.

There is only 'One God' the creator of all that is seen and unseen; so no matter who we pray to, the same God hears all our prayers. I see both Muslims and Christians pray with a deep conviction.

Like brother Umit says, it is our choice, so I would say pray to God - Allah for guidance. Ask him for help to do his will and hopefully you can find guidance and peace.

May you be blessed with wisdom on your journey as you seek to serve.

Thanks Erik I appreciate it and may God bless you as well. All I want is, when I die I’m counted as one of the faithful no matter where it comes from so I explore all of my options continuously. I think that in the monotheistic faiths we all seem to have part of the picture and it’s not until we open our hearts and minds to the possibility that we may not have it all 100% correct and try and find the truth and that we can learn from each other that’s when we will truly find it. It’s when we think that we are the only ones who have it right that we close ourselves off to actually knowing the creator (who ever he is).

thank you my brother and I agree atheism is not the way. When I was atheist I studied evolution and the more I studied the more I was lead to a creator. My heart aches for someone to serve and worship and I just want to be right I don’t care what that means. My purpose in this life is to be a great husband to my fiancé ( I asked her to marry me last night and she said yes I’m so happy) to be a great father and mostly to make it to heaven to be with the one that created me. On that know I was told in Islam when we die I will be with my wife as her husband for eternity. Is that true?

    Hello SeeksOnlyTruth,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your questions.

In Islam, it is an article of faith to believe in and respect Jesus, peace be upon him. He was one of the greatest Messengers of God. There are many members on this forum who converted to Islam after being devout Christians and it was through Islam that they found the true Jesus عليه السلام. Many of their stories can be found here: Stories of Muslim Reverts! - Post yours here! (islamicboard.com)

May God guide you and open your heart to the truth, Ameen.

    Re: I need help understanding

"All I want is, when I die I’m counted as one of the faithful no matter where it comes from..."
This is clearly a desire of sincerity. Keep/maintain this desire for the pleasure of the Creator and His Paradise and His salvation from His Just Punishment and be patient in seeking the Truth and I am certain that the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth will Guide you, put you on the right way and keep you away from the paths that lead astray. He, and He alone is our Guide and is the only One who can show us the way so we seek guidance from Him directly while working hard to understand what it is He wants/expects from us and to follow that as well.

I like your questions and I can tell that you are not here to ask in order to challenge or argue or be disrespectful in anyway towards us or the religion. It's clear to us that you are not interested in that.

Please excuse the Muslims that you have encountered in the past who have responded to you too harshly. The Muslims are going through a lot right now. They are accused/maligned constantly in the media and throughout the internet. Every single aspect of their religion is being scrutinized and criticized/devalued/and ridiculed with no respect given whatsoever to the sanctity of the sacred texts and teachings that Muslims hold so dear to their hearts.

As a result, many Muslims have become very defensive and can overreact and react harshly whenever they perceive someone is questioning a part or aspect of their religion, even when the question is sincere and the questioner is simply looking for answers which is the right of every man and woman seeking out what guidance Islam has to offer.

I am not saying that Muslims are justified in behaving this way, but I am saying that Muslims are indeed full of faults and we ask Allah to Forgive us and have Mercy upon us for the great many shortcomings that we all indeed possess which causes us to fall short of duty to Him and the rights He has over us.

I was close to converting to Islam until an imam told me that Allah has a love for Muslims that he doesn’t have for others
Islam says that a person has to become a "Muslim" in order to attain salvation, Allah's Pleasure, and Paradise. What's important to understand is that we don't just say that you have to follow "our group" in order to be saved but to actually become a "Muslim". So what is a "Muslim"? A Muslim is one who submits to the Will of God and the teachings of his prophets (May God's Peace Be Upon Them All). It says in the Quran that the Prophet Abraham [Peace Be Upon Him] is the one who gave us the title of Muslim.

The teachings of the Quran and Sunnah is what lays out in detail what it is that God wants from us. The Muslim is the one who submits to that, believes in it and follows to the best of his ability. Anyone who does that is promised Paradise. These ones have been described as the "best of creatures" in the Quran.

The one who denies God's revelations and tosses them aside with no respect or care for them, the one who associates partners with God, the one who defies and disobeys God out of ingratitude and stubborn unwillingness to follow His Commands which are there purely for our benefit as human beings, is the one that God describes as the "worst of creatures" in the Quran.

It is not a matter of "follow my club or go to Hell", it's a matter of "follow these specific detailed moral guidelines sent down by the Creator and be saved" and "cast them away, ignore them, disbelieve in them and defy them and be doomed."

With regards to Christianity, then we the Muslims have a major problem with some of the major teachings. To say that Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) is God is a great blasphemy. To say such is to defame our esteemed Creator. What one is saying without realizing it is that the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth was born from the private parts of a woman; that the Ever Living Self-Subsisting ate food and walked in the markets; that our Lord Most High, the God of Honor and Power was killed, crucified, and humiliated by a bunch of Roman pagans. None of these descriptions of Allah are befitting His Majesty. It is not right to say such things about Him.

I am glad that you have been able to at least narrow the matter down to the two: Christianity and Islam. When comparing these two, I will sincerely ask you the question: Which of these two, do you think would be the most pleasing to God to hear from you on the Day of Judgment?

Do you think that God would punish you if on the Day of Judgement you told Him that in this life you believed in the Prophet Moses, the Prophet Jesus, and the Prophet Muhammed (May God's Peace and Blessings Be Upon Them All) and that you believed and declared that He has no son or partner? And that you tried your best to pray five times a day to give up food and drink for His sake every year, to give in charity, to treat your parents with utmost respect to treat ALL of the Prophets with the greatest of respect? To abstain from all of the sins as much as you could? Do you think God would be angry with you over this?

On the other hand, Do you think He will be pleased if you told Him that you declared to people that He had a son implying that Our Lord cohabited with Mary to produce offspring ('Authoo Billilah), that He was harmed and humiliated by those who disbelieved and defied Him? And that His Oneness was divided into three? And that you accepted Moses as a Prophet, deified Jesus and rejected the teachings of Muhammed (Salalahu 'Alaihi wa Salaam)?

Just by judging by instinct, which of these two stances would you think would be the most pleasing to our Creator? Which of these two stances would you be willing to bet your eternity on? Can you find anything in Islam that you think God would find objectionable?

I asked her to marry me last night and she said yes I’m so happy.
Ah! Congratulations! May Allah Guide you both! InshaAllah, I hope Allah Will make you the means by which you both get into Heaven.

I understand that the Quran says Issa didn’t die on the cross but it was made to look like he did. What evidence is there that, that actually took place
The Quran itself would be the evidence in this case. What other kind of evidence were you thinking about? When it comes to past events we can't just use some kind of powers of deduction to know the Truth. The event either happened or didn't. Neither you nor I were there. The only way we could know about it is to know from some trustworthy source what occurred.

    Re: I need help understanding

I must say that it's not nice what that imam told you.
Allah loves all His creatures. I can't understand why he said that you're the worst... The love of Allah is something we can't comprehend. His love is bigger than mothers for 40 times at least.

Example to this is Pharaoh, and you can read about it in Quran. Pharaoh was the worst human ever in history. He proclaimed himself as god. He ordered killing babies every other year, tortured people, etc. Still, he was invited to faith and forgiveness from Allah was promised to him if he would accept to change. This is definitely not act of hate, but love.

He provides everyone, He cares about everyone... and He loves to forgive.

As for Christianity... It doesn't make sense that God who created everything and forbade things we all call sins punishes himself for sins of people. It also doesn't make sense that He would need a family members or to lower himself to level of creation, such as human and being in need of food, water, shelter nor to pray to himself. On the other hand, Maryam a.s. or Saint Mary is just a human even in Christian perspective, although millions of Christians pray to her as well. Catholics in my surroundings believe in her more than in God and there are many churches only for her. But, she's not part of trinity, although she's 4th person Christians pray to. Biologically, part of the body where a baby, fetus is growing is in the neighborhood of the dirtiest parts of our body, filled with you know what. Why would divinity grow over there for 9 months and then being born in blood?

    From Islamic perspective:

There are 7 heavens. First heaven is all we can see as it's filled with galaxies, stars, etc. That's all 1st heaven. And we all know it's huge. According to our Prophet saws, as He went to Miraj, He says that 1st heaven compared to 2nd is like a ring in a desert Sahara. 2nd heaven compared to 3rd is also like a ring in desert Sahara...3rd to 4th same, 4th to 5th same, 5th to 6th same, same for 7th. Then comes Throne of Allah, and 7 heavens compared to the Throne is also like a ring in a desert. Chair of Allah... Allah... Can you comprehend how Big Allah is? Just try to imagine that. And He's like nothing we have ever seen or imagined in our minds. And Christianity compares Allah (God) to humans, which is impossible in any sense. He needs no one. Therefore He doesn't need to rest, feed, drink, and especially no other being besides Him. He just says: Be and it is.
