There is a hadith about following the book of Allah and the example of the Prophet (saw), which book is it in?

Some muhadditheen used to check their ahadith that they collected, before putting them together, similarly Imam Bukhari; to start-off had quite alot of ahadith compared to the very few you'll find in Saheeh al-Bukhari. The reason being that alot of ahadith were taken out; due to repetition and obvious broken channels (chains of narration) and also alot of un-checked ahadith were left out by Bukhari. The question is: Who took some of those left-out ahadith and compile a seperate Hadith book?
