Leave the room, Pray أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم , Think about something else, rant at someone else.... the list is endless..

Is it wise to vent out to someone other than the person you're angry at?

Asalamu Alekum

Saying,"Aouthu bilahi min al shaitan al rajeem" helps a lot, because shaitan makes you angry. Also if you are standing then sit and if you are still angry then lay down. Inshallah that will help.

Asalamu Alekum

Assalamualaikum

It depends on the situation and the person on whom I am angry. Mostly I get angry on someone who scolds me :) Whenever I get angry and I try to think good about that person maybe he might be in a bad mood. Maybe I am thinking wrong about her etc.But sometimes I throw a small things such as a pen :D

.... That means I made a double/repeat thread... o_o;

I'm scared. I'm getting out of here before AabiruSabeel or some other strict staff member gets on my case.

Though, if they do get angry... I suppose it'd be pretty ironic, too. ^_^

Awwww..... don't be too hard on yourself. I am sure they will not be mad at you. Besides, in some ways the two threads can technically be different, even though in some ways there may be overlap. For example, controlling anger, in the sense of preventing it, might be a bit different from how an individual deals with anger, to reduce it, once it has come upon.

Or not.... :statisfie Just trying to be helpful and keep you from feeling bad.

Asalamu Alekum

Ranting is not the answer, neither wise nor right, we should rather dissolve the anger as in post 7. Let us try to do like Prophet Mohammed ( alihi asalat wa asalam), he never ranted when angry, but rather his face would become red, and when he spoke after that he would say nothing bad.

Asalamu Alekum

^ Truly well said..but theres a difference between ranting to someone and venting your anger out on someone....I merely let it all out to someone who I know will listen to me then help me calm down...doen't mean i'm venting my anger out on to them but Yeah we should all try to dissolve our anger before it overcomes us.

Aslaamu`Alaaykum

I be all geeky and then im calm as a turtle :-\, uno like how a turtle walks slowly with its geeky calm legs and doesnt make much noise, like that
:-\

Naah but seriously i try to keep it in but i guess sometimes shaytaan has his way :-\

But something ive noticed, There are 2 types of Humans, one type is some humans can be the calmist at one point like the softist calm and then theres another type of person who is realy angry like the world ended and they are like beasts i mean literally its scary Shaytaan defo got them wrapped round his ugly fingers.

Anyways, ranting or venting or whichever is a REAL word should only exist if the Prophet sallahu alaayhi wa salam did it, if not then i dont see why muslims who are suppose to follow his sunnah should do it. But as far as my geeky self learnt from somewhere that the Prophet sallahu alaayhi wa salam would share his feelings with Allaah swt, but yeah im sure he also shared his feelings with his blessed wives aswell.
Anyways

So yeah

Wa`Alaaykum Salaam

Asalamu Alekum

Well I just complain to Allah subhanah wa taalah, and there was someone in my life whom I shared all with but I can't talk to that person for some years now, annnd I almost have no friends now or the ones I have have more important things to do, nice friends... so anyway I actually rarely get angry alhamdulilah, just when someone says something bad about Islam then yeah am like a volcano but without eruptions, however, I do reply to that bad thing if I can without having to be rude. Oops now am talking about me instead of how to control anger, ahm excuse me...In short, just remember Allah when angry =)

¤ make isti'adha (a3oudhu Billahi mina Al chaytan Arrajim)
¤ make wudu.
¤ take a shower (if you have time of course :p)
¤ stop talking and try to think about the situation.
¤ go out (Alone / with friends)
¤ Try to remember something funny :D (though it doesn't work everytime)

:sl:

Its interesting how easily some people get angry, while others find it very difficult to do so. The posts above mine give some great tips on calming down.

Restraining from anger:

(3:134) Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good;

Even a Prophet (عليه السلام) became angry:

(21:87) And @ the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." What to do if you become angry: 1.
