We (in what Muslims on this forum refer to as the 'West') greet each other with a hand shake; it's our custom; it means I greet you and offer you the hand of friendship; some of us might be offended if our hand (of friendship) is refused - why - because that's our custom.

We go one step further in Islam; hugs. We just don't do it with members of opposite sex is all. We still say ''Hi'' and ''sup ma beech'' etc.
