Islamic Question and Answer thread

Hi!

I was wondering if someone was to ask why you belive what would you say? And i mean more so on a personal level not generally. I have grown up in a muslim household and belive in a god and islam as a true religion but i cannot find a personal reason to commit myself to this and whenever i ask anybody for their reason for beliving as much as they do despite all the suffering and hardships, they can't seem to give a good enough answer or an answer i'm looking for

Assalamu alaykum,

There are numerous intellectual and rational reasons for believing in Islam (see this link for example). It is also the Religion of the natural disposition (fitrah). But remember that there are other factors which influence whether guidance enters and remains settled in one's heart. These include the state of a person's heart and whether there are impediments that divert it away from guidance, as well as the fact that the divine assistance from Allah is needed. So whilst its important to know about rational evidences, it is also important to reflect and analyse one’s heart, and it is vital to turn to Allah to seek His help and guidance.

If there any particular issues you are struggling with, perhaps we can try and address those In sha Allah. May Allah protect us and increase us all in guidance, Ameen.
