    missed prayers

If a person missed dhur prayer for whatever reason and made up for the loss at home, which order goes first and how it is done exactly and what kind of intention is made?

does one make the prayer of the current time first then the missed one or vice versa or what?
also what is the penalty for that (let's say the missing of said prayer was completely out of ones control) like they were detained in the OR working on a sick person or flying a plane or whatever..

    Jazakoum Allah khyran...

Asalaamu Alaikum, Any Salaah we have missed from puberty until today must be made up for as it will always remain a debt to Allah. If the prayers you missed are from the day before then you can pray them as soon as you have the time to pray them but if those missed Salaah are on the same day then you should pray the missed Salaah in order first but if there is no time and if you prayed your Qadha then you would miss your current prayer then you should pray your current prayer then pray the missed Salaah.

The intention is just like a normal intention for prayer in your heart but just mention that you are making up for such and such missed prayer. Even thinking about which prayer you are going to pray it and affirming it in your heart that you are praying it will suffice.

If one is in a situation where one is on transport or detained or any kind of circumstance where one is about to miss a prayer or prayers then one can pray anyway even without wudu and then make up for it later on.

As long as one tries their best to pray and it is out of their hands that they ended up missing the prayer then one will find Allah most understanding and forgiving but deliberately missing prayers is an enormity, an action that is both punishable by a legal penalty in this world, and divine punishment in the Hereafter.

The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam said, "The agreement that is between us and them is the prayer: whoever leaves it has disbelieved." [Reliance, p4.2]

In another hadith, it is narrated on the authority of Abu Zubair that he heard Jabir b. 'Abdullah saying, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) observing this,' "Between man and polytheism and unbelief is the abandonment of salat." [Muslim]

If one has missed many prayers from puberty until today then one should figure out how salaah's one's missed and be conservative about it to the nearest number at least and make a timetable for making them up gradually whatever is in ones ability to do so without overburdening oneself and it is said that whilst one is making up for their missed Salaah if they were to die then they would be forgiven because of the fact that they were making the effort to repay the debt they owe to Allah.

And Allah knows best in all matters

    Re: missed prayers

Jazaka Allah khyran for the above that is very informative.. It would be very difficult to make up for years upon year of missed prayers. When making up this debt at what age should one be considered in debt? starting at the age of ten? or puberty or when? let's say you've missed prayers from the time you were 7 first taught salaat until your mod twenties do you have to make up that many?

can you elaborate on this a little? Let's say you're performing surgery on someone and you end up missing duhr and Asr especially during the winter months, can you just simply pray in your heart or what?
