Ayat of the Day

Assalaam Alaikum!

On the RoadtoJannah message board I typically post a Hadith of the Day and the Ayat of the Day. I see that there is already a Hadith of the Day thread here so inshAllah I intend to contribute to that. However, when doing a few searches on this board I could not find an Ayat of the Day thread, so I decided to make one. If there is one already please merge this and point me in the right direction inshAllah. Also if everyone could contribute that would be wonderful. Discussion, Ayats, anything inshAllah.

8. Al-Anfal (Spoils Of War, Booty)

Surah: 8 Aya: 16

Transliteration
16. Waman yuwallihim yawma-ithin duburahu illa mutaharrifan liqitalin aw mutahayyizan ila fi-atin faqad baa bighadabin mina Allahi wama/wahu jahannamu wabi/sa almaseeru

Translation

16. And whoever turns his back to them on such a day - unless it be a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own), - he indeed has drawn upon himself wrath from Allâh. And his abode is Hell, and worst indeed is that destination!

31) Sūrat Luqmān

031.007 And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride
as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him
tidings of a painful doom.

وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا وَلَّى مُسْتَكْبِرا ً كَأَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ
وَقْرا
ً ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيم

48) Sūrat Al-Fatĥ

048.025 These it was who disbelieved and debarred you from the Inviolable Place of Worship, and debarred the offering from reaching its goal. And if it had not been for believing men and believing women, whom ye know not - lest ye should tread them under foot and thus incur guilt for them unknowingly; that Allah might bring into His mercy whom He will - If (the believers and the disbelievers) had been clearly separated We verily had punished those of them who disbelieved with painful punishment.

هُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْهَدْيَ مَعْكُوفاً أَنْ يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّه ُُ ۚ وَلَوْلاَ رِجَال ٌ مُؤْمِنُونَ وَنِسَاء ٌ مُؤْمِنَات ٌ لَمْ تَعْلَمُوهُمْ أَنْ تَطَئُوهُمْ فَتُصِيبَكُمْ مِنْهُمْ مَعَرَّة ٌ بِغَيْرِ عِلْم ٍ ۖ لِيُدْخِلَ اللَّهُ فِي رَحْمَتِه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ لَوْ تَزَيَّلُوا لَعَذَّبْنَا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَاباً أَلِيما

24) Sūrat An-Nūr

024.014 Had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you in the
world and the Hereafter an awful doom had overtaken you for that whereof ye
murmured.

وَلَوْلاَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُه ُُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِي مَا أَفَضْتُمْ فِيه ِِ
عَذَابٌ عَظِيم

.008 There is no God save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and

هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ

27) Sūrat An-Naml

027.019 And (Solomon) smiled, laughing at her speech, and said: My Lord, arouse
me to be thankful for Thy favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents,
and to do good that shall be pleasing unto Thee, and include me in (the number
of) Thy righteous slaves.

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكا ً
مِنْ قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي
أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحا ً
تَرْضَاه ُُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي
بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj. And whatever good you do - Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah . And fear Me, O you of understanding.

(The Quran al-Baqarah 2:197)

79) Sūrat An-Nāzi`āt

079.040 But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his
soul from lust,

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّه
ِِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى

079.041 Lo! the Garden will be his home.

فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ
الْمَأْوَى

Perhaps if we post an ayat, it's best if we post the tafseer, cutting out and pasting ayats without knowing or showing the context is wrong, full stop.

5) Sūrat Al-Mā'idah

005.027 But recite unto them with truth the tale of the two sons of Adam, how
they offered each a sacrifice, and it was accepted from the one of them and it
was not accepted from the other. (The one) said: I will surely kill thee. (The
other) answered: Allah accepteth only from those who ward off (evil).

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانا ً
فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ الآخَرِ
قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ
إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ
الْمُتَّقِينَ

If anyone does a righteous deed, it ensures to the benefit of his own soul; if he does evil, it works against (his own soul). In the end will you (all) be brought back to your Lord.

Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

5) Sūrat Al-Mā'idah

005.089 Allah will not take you to task for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will take you to task for the oaths which ye swear in earnest. The expiation thereof is the feeding of ten of the needy with the average of that wherewith ye feed your own folk, or the clothing of them, or the liberation of a slave, and for him who findeth not (the wherewithal to do so) then a three days' fast. This is the expiation of your oaths when ye have sworn; and keep your oaths. Thus Allah expoundeth unto you His revelations in order that ye may give thanks.

لاَ يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الإِيْمَانَ ۖ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ~ُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَة ٍ ۖ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّام ٍ ۚ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ ۚ وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ ۚ كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِه ِِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

he cries unto his Lord, turning to Him in repentance: but when He bestows a favor upon ghim as from Himself, (man) forgets what he cried and prayed for before...
