I was just wondering how a person should go about becoming a Scholar? Ive wanted to be one for years, even before I came to Islam.
Unfortunately, It wasnt offered as a career option at school!
I feel that there is a lack of female scolars, etc. I wouldnt mind helping to balance the scales, so to speak.
A whisper of peace,
Moving through the land.
Allah will surely run to us if we hold out our hands.
A word of hope will call to every woman and man.
A light until the end of time,
This is our Islam.
i thought i had a fatwa which was titled something like, how to become a scholar, but i cannont seem to find it.
however, islam-qa have a good section about seeking knowledge. heres the link. http://islam-qa.com/index.php?cref=4...list=15&ln=eng
...desperate for husnul-khitaam...
please make dua that Allah grants me a good end (to my life). please make dua that Allah guides me.
there seems to be a resurrection of Islamic studies going on in the world. Naturally it will be time before the newer ones will equal places like "Al azhar" but the future looks bright that at some time there will be quality Islamic universities where ever Muslims are found.
the Department of Islamic Studies, at the University of Texas is already getting a good reputations and to be scholars are even coming from Saudi for Islamic studies here. The current undergrad curriculum is already impressive and plans are to bring it up to Ph.D level.
you should have sufficient knowlegde and it also depends on what you do with your knowlegde
like there are loads loads of knowlegdeable people and they dont do anything with their knowlegde. be a active preacher, write up a books, give talks lol
and also if you want to be a top top scholar, it does depend on what other scholars think of you as well, because thats one way to get easy recognition!!!
Jaa-Ro-Nee-Mo!!!
"they ask you when will the help of Allah (swt) come! Certainly Allah (Swt) help is always near"
what is a scholar....is that the same as a student?
A true Scholar will always be a student, because a true scholar will understand that there is always more to learn. But, a scholar also has the ability to share and teach what has been learned and has learned more than most people.
I believe the best way to think of an Islamic scholar would be as a person who has attained a Ph.D but has not given up learning and is still working on additional Ph.Ds.

The Real Meaning of an Ulema
What the Term Ulema Really Means and How It Should Be Applied Today
Nov 12, 2007
Ulemas are traditionally known as Islamic scholars. By definition, however, they are people of knowledge - even if their ambits include secular issues.
The ulema today is known as a man or woman who is well versed in Islamic jurisprudence. This person is knowledgeable of all matters relating to Islamic creed. Most weight falls upon Islamic beliefs; Qur'anic studies and reading; prayers and other forms of worship as well as the Prophetic sunnah. In the English language, we know the ulema as "the Islamic scholar."
By defining what is Islamic, people's perception of what does not fall under an Islamic scholar's jurisdiction is known as secular matters
The most important step to become a scholar is the intention,
one have to ask himself, why Im learning Sharee'ah? to be called a scholar?, or just to fullfil my dreams? OR to worship Allah with knowledge and get closer to Him, and clear out any misconceptions left by the enemies of Islam? .. if your intention is pure that all of what you learn is just for Allah's sake, then you took the first, and the most important step towards seeking knowledge, and Allah the Most High will ease the rest of the process for you as long as your intentions are still pure .. may Allah guide us and give us pure intentions.
