Fast the Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) for forgiveness for the previous year's sins:
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Fasting the day of ‘Ashura’ I hope Allah will expiate thereby (erase sins) for the year that came before it.” [Muslim, 1162]
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Next year, if Allah wills, we will fast on the 9th day.” But by the following year he had passed away.
It's recommended to fast 9th as well as 10th or 10th and 11th Muharram.
Ibn Hajar (Ra) said this is to differ from the Jews who also venerate this day & to be sure of fasting the day of Ashura due to differences of the exact start of Muharram.
Imam Ahmed (RA) recommended fasting all 3 days which is best. If not then two days. If not then at least on the 10th.
*Dates of fasting:*
9th Muharram - Wed 19th September
*10th Muharram (Day of Ashura) - Thurs 20th September*
11th Muharram - Fri 21st September

Re: *Important Reminder* Fasting Day of Ashura forgiveness for previous year's sins!
Asalamualykum,
For those of you living in the UK the day of Ashura falls on Thursday 20th September insha Allah so fast wednesday and Thursday or Thursday and Friday. The best of months after ramadan is the month of Muharram so increase your fasts insha Allah. The Prophet s.a.w fasted more in this month.
Pain and hardships allow you to grow spiritually Alhamdulilah so smile when a so called calamity befalls upon you.
Alhamdulilah Allah swt is the greatest.
