..Truly, the life of this world is nothing but a [quick passing] enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever. (40:39)
And know that your possesions and your children are but a trial and that surely with Allah is a mighty reward. (8:28)
And strain not your eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to various groups of them [polytheist and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah], the splendor of the life of this world, that We may test them thereby .. (20:131)
"May similitude and that of the life of this world is that of a traveler who took a rest at a mild-day under a shade of a tree and then left it"(Ahmad, at Tirmidhi)
"Be in this world like a stranger, or a wayfarer" (Bukhari)
"When the All - Mighty Allah (swt) gives a person whatever he loves of the worldly benefits despite his disobedience, then that is a gradual enticement." (Ahmed)

...I wonder at the one who extends his right hand
To his beloved at the time of seperation and he hastens therein!
I felt weak and incapable of saying farewell when I saw him
So my heart shook his hand whilst my eye wept....
