But generally speaking, people seem a whole lot more friendly and peaceful during Ramadan. Do you think the main reason for this is the closing of the more heated sections? Or is there more to it than that?
Peace glo

Yes there is much more to it then that, Shaytan is locked away during this period
Edit - I for one cannot wait for Ramadan InshAllah, What a chance we have to seek forgiveness for our sins. I hope we can all take this opportunity to become better Muslims

Yes, World Affairs, Comparative Religions and Puzzles and Humour are the main ones I seem to remember. That alone makes things more civilized around here ...

You're a Chrisitan right? So how comes you cannot wait fro Ramadan? Is it in the sense that it promotes peace generally? Or do you try and keep fasts, or what?
^ Mostly because the bickering and arguing in this forum stops for the duration of Ramadan.
I have not been aware that during Ramadan the whole world becomes a more peaceful place (given that such a large percentage of the world population keeps Ramadan, that should actually be possible ...)
Imagine what a powerful sign it would be to the non-Muslim world, if that really happened!
I have prayed and fasted last year during Ramadan, and I have found it a beneficial experience.

I thought about quiting too, I haven't been here near as long, but I have gotten rather annoyed and offended at some comments, but eh, I try my best to get through them.
I wish you luck in finding a forum, if this is not it, and I hope this is it, but I wish you luck either way.
I don't know, what happens in Ramadan? I know their is a fasting, but what causes the forum to be more peaceful?
Did you read the thread, Clover?
During Ramadan most forum sections not relating directly to Islam are closed.
That includes those section, where most debating and arguing goes on - the World Affairs and Comparative Religions.
Therefore for one months a year this forum becomes pretty quiet and peaceful.
I guess some of us are wondering whether the peace comes from closing those sections alone, or whether there is something more profoundly spiritual going on during that time ... and if there is something spiritual, whether it should be palpatable throughout the world for the duration of Ramadan.
