The sole purpose of our creation is ‘ībādah (worship of Allāh ta‘ālā). Allāh ta‘ālā says:
And I have created jinn and men only for my worship. (51:56)
Allāh ta‘ālā, through His Mercy, sent Ambiyā ‘alayhimus salām to guide us in this regard. They taught Allāh’s ta‘ālā servants the method of fulfilling the purpose for which they were created. From the various forms of ‘ībādah taught by the Ambiyā ‘alayhimus salām, one is du‘ā. Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam has said:
Du‘ā is the essence of ‘ībādah.” (Tirmidhī)

Allāh S, through His Mercy, sent Ambiyā u to guide us in this regard. They taught Allāh’s S servants the method of fulfilling the purpose for which they were created. From the various forms of ‘ībādah taught by the Ambiyā u, one is du‘ā. Rasūlullāh s has said:
Du‘ā is the essence of ‘ībādah.” (Tirmidhī)
He also said:
Du‘ā is ‘ībādah. (Tirmidhī, Abū Dāwūd, Ibn Mājah)
He has urged his Ummah to hold fast to this special form of ‘ībādah:
O servants of Allāh, hold fast to du‘ā. (Tirmidhī)
He has also warned those who do not supplicate to Allāh S:
Allāh is angry with those who do not ask from Him. (Tirmidhī)
Allah S also declares:
Call Me: I will respond to you. Indeed, those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Jahannam disgraced. (40:60)
