I stumbled upon this tonight, and though it would be of interest here. Peter Murphy, the famous Irish singer, moved to Turkey many years ago, and embraced Islam. He remarks here "There was no conversion, just a recognition that it was the same message, only clearer. You don't convert, you discover an aspect of surrender, which is what Islam means."
I always suspected that there was something deeper and spiritually significant in his writings, and this confirms it
