Masha'Allaah, a very interesting site, Jazakallaahu khayran. I think Br. Al Habeshi is referring to the other meaning of mutashabihat. The more detailed explanation says,
The word Mutashabihat is used here in the sense understood by the Huffaz, and not in the manner understood in the science of Ulum al-Quran. An ayah which closely resembles another one is called a Mutashabih.
So basically, 'Mutashaabih' has 2 meanings - the first one is 'resembling' and the second is 'unclear'. Both of these meanings are used in the Qur'an and Sunnah.
What an amazing resource! I didn't know anything like this existed and have struggled with similar ayaat for some time.
May Allah bless and reward the brother who compiled it and the one sharing here, and accept it with the best of acceptance, ameen.

This is a clear message for mankind in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is only One God, and that those of understanding may take heed (14:52)
