Mufti condemns Israeli decision to demolish historic mosque near Jerusalem

Jerusalem – Ma'an – The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein has condemned a decision by Israeli authorities to demolish the Al-Omari mosque in the village of Umm Tuba near Jerusalem under the pretext that the building had been built without a license on Sunday.
Sheikh Hussein told Ma'an that the mosque was built more than 700 years go, and it was last restored in 1963. It is the only mosque in Umm Tuba.
The Mufti claimed that Israeli authorities have been attempting to wipe out historic Islamic sites in Palestine which is violation of all religious values and international treaties.
He warned of the repercussions and called on the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) which is charged with protecting human cultural heritage around the world, and other international organizations to prevent the demolition of the mosque.

So? The house of the Prophet (peace be upon him)'s uncle is a public toilet now, where is the outrage over that?! Where are the mass protests? The boycotts?

Ther are plenty of other Mosques that have been destroyed besides this one, but there is no outrage against them. There are not even any protests when they turned the house of the Phophet (peace be upon him)'s uncle, a mosque that was special and one of a kind, into a public toilet!
When the Kaaba was hit by shells the whole Muslim world rose in anger. Where is our backbone now?

THIS is the latest story I can find on the mosque, and even that is six months old. I can't find any story saying it actually has been demolished yet. Maybe somebody came up with the money.
The villagers have reported the case to the Israeli court and it has ruled in favor of the villagers and banned the demolition of the mosque, but the municipality has asked the people of the village to register the mosque in somebody's name so as to officially represent the mosque as a real estate that needs to pay $70,000 charge.
Advocate Ali Abu Tair from the village said:" this is totally illogical, they are talking about a mosque, a religious and holy entity, it is not an individual property and we refuse to agree on that and we object and believe that the mosque is a public property for all villagers and Muslims. "
The advocate said that the demolition decision that came after the extension did not take into consideration the increasing need of the residents for a bigger mosque that was 150m before expanding and is now 600m, and has cost about a million NIS donated by the villagers themselves and in addition to 150,000 NIS collected from worshipers of Al-Aqsa mosque.
Abu Tair has stressed that the policy of demolishing the mosque is part of the old and common Israeli policy of teasing and agonizing. Besides the confiscation of lands and the huge taxes imposed on the properties and services without getting these services or any other rights from the municipality.
Furthermore, Medhat Abu Tair a member of Protecting Umm Tuba Mosque committee commented on the obstacles forced by the municipality:" most of the residents of the village are poor and can't pay for taxes and getting a license for the mosque, we can't pay the 70,000 NIS the municipality is asking for."
Residents of the village are determined and have promised themselves not to allow the demolition process no matter what. That is why the Protecting Umm Tuba Mosque committee was formed; to represent the case in front of the municipality and the Internal Affairs Israeli Ministry. In addition, the people have been organizing propaganda about the whole case and have also been taking shifts inside the mosque to make sure it will never be eradicated.

You only list ones destroyed by non-Muslims. The Saudis have destroyed countless Mosques and holy places, including the Mosque of Sayyida Fatima bint Rasulillah, Salman al-Farsi Mosque, Abu Bakr Mosque, Umar ibn al-Khattab Mosque, and Mosque of Ali ibn Abi Talib.
These barbaric acts deserve the fury of every Muslim country from Morroco to Indonesia. But even the people that care about it and have the power to change things just sit and whinge about Israel.

It is good to see that there is a resolution coming soon, but it is still outragous that something built 700 years ago requires a permit. It seems that these people are absolutely set on destroying it. I can't think why though, since Israel would have no motive for doing something like this.

It's a building. If it is torn down does it destroy your faith? Do you not have anywhere else to go? If a church is torn down it does not affect me one bit because Jesus said he would tear down the church in 3 days and rebuild it in your heart. Brick and mortar is just a place to fellowship and study nothing more.

Anyway just look at the crapp the Israeli's come out with, trying to demolish a mosque built 700 years ago, probably became too useful for muslims so they just had to tease em and make life harder for them. Look at them trying gather every penny from them

No it doesn't destroy our faith, but mosques are vital for muslim communities, praying in congregation is alot more important in our religion. The mosque is used atleast five times a day and is necessary for friday prayers, its used alot more than your once in a week sunday gathering.
Good for you with the churches, no wonder so many are going down in the U.K, some are even turning into mosques
I don't get it, why would Jesus rebuild a church in your heart?
