    Re: Sinus

    Wassalam,

That must be very difficult having to live with sinusitis. Try going to an ENT specialist. You need steroid drops which you put in your nose twice a day. A doctor will recommend what is best for you, but this is quite necessary.

Read surah Fatihah seven times, blow on your hands then rub on your face. May Allah swt give you cure and make it easy for you.

A'salamu alaykum. Has this been narrated in any Ahadeeth?

Wa alaykum a'salam. There are a few things you could try that were recommended to us by our beloved Nabi salaAllahu alayhi wa salam.

    1. Black seed
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu that RasoolAllah salaAllahu alayhi wa salam said, "In the black seed is healing for every disease except death." Sahih al-Bukhaari, 5364 and Muslim, 2215.

    2. Honey
    3. Cupping

For the Du'a you can recite,
Narrated by 'Aisha radhiAllahu anha that RasoolAllah salaAllahu alayhi wa salam used to recite al-mu'aawidhaat and blow over himself during his final illness, and when he became too ill (to do that), I ('Aisha) used to recite them and blow over him and wipe his hand on him for blessing. Mu'ammar said, I asked al-Zuhri how he used to blow and he said, He used to blow on his hands then wipe his face with them. (Sahih al-Bukhaari, 5403 and Muslim, 2192)

All of the Qur'an is a healing, and you could recite Qur'an over it, and there are certain Ayat which were recommended to us to recite as well. Such as, Surah al Fatihah, al-Mi'wadhatayn, Ayat al-Kursi and Surah al Ikhlaas.

There is also a Du'a that Nabi salaAllahu alayhi wa salam recited, "Adhhib al-ba's Rabb an-naas, wa'shfi anta al-Shaafi, laa shifaa'a illa shifaa'uka shifaa' laa yughaadir saqaman (Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness)." (Sahih al-Bukhaari, 5243 and Muslim, 4061)

And I don't know anything about reciting an Ayat or a Surat x number of times, that is something to check with someone of knowledge, and find out what is prescribed in Shari'a, otherwise doing so would be an innovation. And maybe another member here knows about it and could share, in sha Allah.

And Allah is the only One who Heals, and all the Power of healing is with Him alone. Allah knows best.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.632 Narrated by Abu Said Al Khudri
Some of the companions of the Prophet (saws) came across a tribe amongst the tribes of the Arabs, and that tribe did not entertain them. While they were in that state, the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion). They said, (to the companions of the Prophet), "Have you got any medicine with you or anybody who can treat with Ruqya?" The Prophet's (saws) companions said, "You refuse to entertain us, so we will not treat (your chief) unless you pay us for it." So they agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them (the Prophet's (saws) companions) started reciting Surat-al-Fatiha and gathering his saliva and spitting it (at the snake-bite). The patient got cured and his people presented the sheep to them, but they said, "We will not take it unless we ask the Prophet (saws) (whether it is lawful)." When they asked him, he (saws) smiled and said, "How do you know that Surat-al-Fatiha is a Ruqya? Take it (flock of sheep) and assign a share for me."

Surah Fatiah is the main surah used in ruqyahs and is used often by many islamic healers in various ways (one of which is mentioned by Umm Abed).

I meant reciting it 7 times. Is there any basis for doing that?

Off hand I do not know the basis for it. Here's a different narration of the same hadith mentioning it.

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded the following narration:

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says,

“Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) dispatched us on a military expedition. We camped with some people and asked them to entertain us but they did not entertain us. Their leader was stung so they came to us saying: ‘Is there anyone among you who can treat a scorpion sting with ruqyah [reciting something]?’ I said: ‘Yes I can. But I will not do any ruqyah until you give us some sheep.’ They said: ‘We shall give you thirty sheep.’ We accepted that, and I recited ‘Alhamdulillahi…’ seven times.

He was cured and we took the sheep.” He said: “We became concerned [whether this was permissible] and said: ‘Do not be hasty until we reach Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).’

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id says: “When we arrived, I mentioned what I did to him. He (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘How did you know that [Surah Fatihah] was a ruqyah? Take the sheep, and allot me a share as well.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2063. Imam Tirmidhi has declared the Hadith as sound –hasan-. Some editions of Sunan Tirmidhi have the words ‘hasanun sahih‘)

    dear sister,

It is not necessary that a doctor will recommend the best - and in most cases they don't. This is the sad reality. While steroids may cause some temporary relief, they are certainly not necessary n neither a good long term solution. We have been so brainwashed into believing in drugs that it has made us more sick than the initial illness we have. Illness comes for a reason n it's a process of realisation, reflection n discovery n a chance for us to go back to addressing the causes, n correct ourselves including our diets. Along with dua, health is something we must take responsibility for n put a lot of effort in. We need to RECTIFY. Not look for quick fixes - that will only make our problems worse.

May Allah guide us, have mercy upon us and grant us all good health n Eemaan. Aameen.
