Words that Human being utters, count against him
By Mohammad Rafique Etesame
It was narrated from Umme Habibah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The words of the son of Adam count against him, not for him, except what is good and forbidding what is evil, and remembering Allah.” (Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith3974)
This hadith reveals that all the words that the mankind utters count against him, except to enjoin the good or forbidding the evil or the remembering Allah Almighty. It does not mean that mankind should not speak other than these three categories, but it means that he should speak always well and should not be bad-mouth i.e. he should not back-bite, slander, abuse or to tell a lie etc. May Allah Almighty give us taufeeq to act upon this hadith, Amin.
