I would just like to ask a question, my grandmother talks to peers in Pakistan to advise her on certain problems she has and the family.
Last year some people came to
my house to cause me harm but did not succeed, my grandmother then asked the peer was this a act of black magic. They said yes it is and they said it was a certain person that did it. Many other peers she talks to said it was this certain person. Is this allowed in Islam? How would the peer know who it was without talking to jinn? Or can they find out another way? Is it permissible to ask peers for advice?
Re: Finding out who has done Black magic is it shirk?
wa'alaikum as'salaam,
the peers/pirs are fake and con artists and some may work with the jinns. One should not be going to them. They will lie to you and say so and so did it just cause strife and rift among Muslims. You could go to a magician as he will know who did it, but going to him is not allowed and he too will lie and say so and so did it to cause strife and hatred towards someone innocent. I don't know if there is any other legit way to find out unless the person who did it admits it or tells someone and you hear it through the grapevine. Inshallah best thing to do is look for signs of whether it was done or not and if so then do ruqyah. And if done or not, in either case recite your adakars and duas mentioned for protecting yourself from it.

They do not ask for money for their advice.
Please answer
wassalaam bro,
Sorry to say this but if your grandma is getting information from "pir saabs" in Pakistan about someone doing magic in your home - then I have to tell you, those pir saabs are magicians too.
So what if money doesn't change hands - you think magicians want money? the most powerful ones dont need money - they only crave power.
Re: Finding out who has done Black magic is it shirk?
Thanks for the reply brothers. My grandmother still goes to them for their advice. They tell her to read certain Surahs for protection and they make prayer for her and the family. They do not take any money for their advice or their prayers. So should I just not listen to their advice they give?
My little cousin was very unwell, he was in hospital for a very long time but mashallah he is much better now. They said it was black magic which made him very ill and a certain person did it. They told my grandmother to measure him with a blue thread it has to be a blue thread, then burn it. If it smelt bad they said it is black magic and also told her to rub paper over my cousin and then she was told to hit the paper with a sandal. To me this sounded very suspicious, but please note they do not take any money for their advice.

Your pir saabs are magicians bro. Blue thread showed them up and exposed them.

It definitely is not from Allah. I can think of no hadith or surah that has such advice, or even anything similar. When I was young I was a Wiccan (practiced witchcraft) and using a blue thread and burning it is a matter of magic - black, white, there is no difference, it is a method to try to see the unseen and can only come from dangerous sources. There is NO good magic in Islam.
Re: Finding out who has done Black magic is it shirk?
I'm still confused why they would tell my grandmother do this blue thread thing, because they also tell her to read Surahs for protection? If they are magicians why would they tell her to read Surahs?
Re: Finding out who has done Black magic is it shirk?
The use of magic often comes from a cultural background. It's much like superstitions and good luck charms that get passed down through families, villages, or even an entire ethnic group. Like carrying a lucky coin, or thinking a black cat crossing your path is bad luck, or only stirring a pot clockwise to keep bad spirits from tainting the food. Just because our forefathers did it does not mean that it is knowledge given to us by Allah; in fact, He reminds us several times in the Qur'an to be wary of doing things for the sake of it being the way of those who came before us.
Out of curiosity, do you have the means of asking the peers where they get their knowledge of seeing things that are unseen from? Their answer may tell you a lot.
Re: Finding out who has done Black magic is it shirk?
Superstition is very different from black magic and evil eye. Former is just made up beliefs of certain things happening if certain things happen, while the latter destroy lives and changes your Qadr.

It done to confuse and cover the issue of shirk.
