if someone dies mentally challenged/insane how will Allah judge them in the aakhira? so if for a portion of their life they were mentally stable/sane but later on became the opposite and died upon that, would they go to hell if they were non-Muslim? how does Allah Judge one in that situation?
...desperate for husnul-khitaam...
please make dua that Allah grants me a good end (to my life). please make dua that Allah guides me.
Re: the fate of the insane/mentallly challenged in the aakhira
I read on a website that the deeds comitted by a mentally challenged person is not counted. The reason being that he is not in his senses.I can't find the link but I found this hadith for you:Three persons are not to be held accountable for their actions: a sleeping person until he awakes, a child until he comes of age, and a mentally disturbed person until he regains his reason.
Re: the fate of the insane/mentallly challenged in the aakhira
Mentally insane person is known as Ghair Mokallaf (Not charged), as in not charged with the responsibility of worship placed upon mankind. That is of course for complete mental handicap where there lack of control or logic beyond the capabilities of a child. Those with mental challenges that are not total, like a person with paranoia or phobias or OCD, are judged by Allah based on what he knows they could have controlled, and are fundamentally though Mokallafeen.
There isn't a report on what exactly if someone BECOMES completely and incurably insane after having reached puberty sane, but it is logical that they are treated based on their previous lives that they lead before they became insane, similarly to the ruling on temporarily insane people: the pen is raised from them FOR THAT TIME, but not what happened before when they were in control.
If someone wonders about "what if they could have repented or mended their ways had they not become insane", should remember that:
1- "what if" opens the door for the devil. Everything has already been written and sealed and is our fate.
2- They are in the same boat as people who die suddenly in an accident. That's why we all repent and pray every single day, because if anything happens to us we will be judged and punished based on what we did when we were given the chance. Every single moment we get is a bonus, so whether the plug that is pulled is on our lives or our ability to control our lives, it is the same ruling.
And God knows best.

Re: the fate of the insane/mentallly challenged in the aakhira
i heard from a neurologist of a case of a person whose corpus collasum was destroyed. If asked from his left brain by covering his left eye, he would say there is no God. On the right brain, he would say God exists. Not sure what his end will be.
Help me to escape from this existence
I yearn for an answer... can you help me?
I'm drowning in a sea of abused visions and shattered dreams
In somnolent illusion... I'm paralyzed
Re: the fate of the insane/mentallly challenged in the aakhira
Those are true double personalities and some exhibit really freaky things alright. God may help them all with their challenges.
Allah will judge us all justly and decide their faith, and it is certainly neither fruitful nor possible nor permissible actually to declare someone as going to hell or going to heaven regardless of appearances.
