10 Causes That Remove Punishment For A Sin
Imaam Ibn Taymiyyah

Majmoo` al-Fatawa 1:45, 7:487
Translated by Islaam.com

Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

The punishment for a sin committed by a believer is removed in ten ways:

1) He repents to Allah (taubah), so Allah accepts his repentance, for the one who repents from sin is like the one who has no sin.

2) He seeks forgiveness from Allah (istighfar), so Allah forgives him.

3) He does good deeds that erase his sin for good deeds erase bad ones.

4) His believing brethren pray for him or seek forgiveness for his sins during his life or death.

5) Or they [ask Allah] to bestow on him as gift from the reward for their deeds, with which Allah benefits him.

6) His Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, intercedes for him.

7) Allah tests him with trials in this world which expiate his sin.

8) Allah tests him in al-Barzakh (the intermediate life in the grave, between the death and the Day of Judgment) which expiates his sin.

9) Allah tests him in the various stages of the Day of Judgment which expiates his sins.

10) Or the Most Merciful of those who have mercy has mercy on him.

Whoever, then, is missed by these ten cannot blame anyone but himself.

subhan Allaah.. just imagine having loads of sins on your scale on judgement day. And Allaah azawajal says, go to jannah for I have forgiven you.. that would be soo awesome.

Yeah subhanAllah. I went to a sheikh salim al amry talk yesterday about the topics, expiations for sins, and nullifiers of good deeds. He mentioned how Shaytaan makes you dispair when you sin, and magnifies the sin in your eyes. And one might think that this might make you want to refrain from committing that sin again, but rather it has the opposite effect. Because we sometimes forget that Allah is The Most Merciful.

When we commit a sin we should make sincere tawbah straight away, and cry for repentance from our Lord. And we should always follow a bad deed with a good deed. This patiularly hard because when you think of doing that good deed shaytaan reminds you of that sin and makes you feel like a hypocrite. But the fact that you feel guilty is part of the conditions of Tawbah, and being resolute to not return to that sin inshaAllah.

Sorry for ranting everyone. Lol.

Salaams sis,

Was you also at Salim Al-Amry's talk yesterday?.........subhanallah small world:), wasnt it soo beneficial mashallah, i learnt so much from the little time he was with us...........May Allah reward the shiekh and the organizers, AMEEEN.

From now on inshallah, im not going to belittle any action, as theres so many actions that we may regard as minor deeds or acts of worship,...........that are incredibly great deeds and acts of worship in the eyes of Allah (SWT)....Plus its also them same deeds that expiate so much of our sins- daily ones that we fall into & greater ones.

Subhanallah:)

and number 7 is so true man, may we all past these trials

and may Allah (swt) forgive our sins, like he says if my slave has sins as high as mountains i will still forgive em, subhanallah, Allah (swt) Hu Akbar :D:D:D
