The 26th of August 1071 was a Friday just like today. However, it was a different Friday. A Friday which was going to change the fortune of a nation and of a land. The two greatest armies of the time, the Byzantium Empire and the Seljuk Empire came face to face in Mazikert (Malazgirt). Sultan Alp Arslan led the Friday prayer and in the afternoon the doors of Anatolia had opened to Muslims and it became a Muslim land forever.
