Where do you live and what media do you use?

Here in the UK, at least three papers are reporting on Syria this morning - BBC, The Independent and The Guardian. In fact, I would say they report on Syria most days, if not every day.

Does anybody have a short and as unbiased as possible source on how the conflict started, what it is about and who is involved?

We have had regular collections for the people of Syria at our church, they have been in our prayers, there seems so little we can do.

But what are our governments supposed to do? Any kind of military intervention is a no-go. Sanctions are already in place and putting in place stricter ones will also increase suffering among the civilian population. There have also been plenty of peace initiatives, but without any success.

Plus those adverts asking for donations every day too. It's false to say no one hears about it and no one cares.

It is certainly true that the conflict in Syria has a lot more attention in the press than basically any other conflict at the moment. Of course, it is also one of the more deadly conflicts right now, so that is completely justified. There are two main problems with reporting about Syria:

• It is difficult to report from the country, as it is so dangerous for journalists and the regime does not want too many of them around.
• The situation is so opaque and chaotic, it being a civil war with a bazillion is different actors involved.
• The situation is so hopeless. Another day with more casualties is simply not news anymore, it has sadly become the norm.
