It seems the exercise is very boring so that nobody wants to attempt it. In fact it's a very interesting exercise, especially for students. I'll explain its importance when i get results insha allah.

19. When you have finished reading everything, do only questions 2 and 3.

:D Exactly. That's a problem lots of students (and even grown-ups) often have. They don't take the time to read instructions and questions but rather just start jotting down. I had a friend who, in her final univ year, made a mistake like this. Her paper consisted of 2 sections. The paper required that you answer 2 qns from section A and 2 qns from section B. But she didn't take the time to read the instructions, so spent all her time answering all questions in section A which left no time for section B at all.

Even in gcse/gce papers, you have an instruction which says "do not use correction fluid", but again students don't take the time to read instructions and use correction fluid and very often they forget to fill in the space which they left to dry making them lose marks unnecessarily.

Not only instructions, it's also important to always have a go through all the questions on a paper before attempting any of them.

That was the point of this exercise. To show the importance of reading. And the first instruction said "Read everything before doing anything"... :clever:

We went through this in class... out of 24, none of us got it right. Amazing huh?

I do not get what is the purpose meaning motive of this exercise for fun, wasting time or something else...

it's to teach you that many people do not read everything first when following directions - even if the first one tells them to read everything first.
if they had, they would have known only to answer 2 & 3.
i am guilty of this too - it's laziness.

I usually read all the questions first then get confused.
