Adminz, what do you think about adding a health section on LI? We can discuss treatments, health news or just ask health-related questions. And the best thing is that I don't think any other islamic forum has one

Jazakallahu Khayr for your suggestion.
It sounds very interesting and helpful, but the problem is: who will answer these health-related questions? I'm not sure that we have any qualified doctors/homeopaths/herbalists etc. to give such advice.
We also have a few threads here and there discussing medical benefits of certain foods and actions, as well as medicine from the Qur'an and Sunnah. Perhaps you meant something different to these, in which case you can explain a bit more Insha'Allaah.

I think that we can all have some qualifications to answer certain medical health questions to a certain degree. An example would be if someone wants to know about diabetes, who will be able to answer better than a diabetic??
I mean everyone comes from different backgrounds, or has lived with someone that has had a medical/health problem.
Besides that, new discoveries about health related issues are made everyday, it would be nice to discuss these with LI members and have backup with some quran and sunnah.
I think having a health section is a great idea mashallah, i back it up fully.

JazakAllah, for your reply. The health section can be used to sharing the latest health news/technology/drugs/treatments and so forth. Of course nobody can diagnose anything or prescribe anything unless it's an over-the-counter drug.
If someone has a serious health issue, then they'd be advised to see their GP. But they can share their concerns and fears and if anyone has been through something similar, they may be able to give valueable advice. We can advise for minor ailments though.
The other benefit is a psychological one. Sometimes just by sharing or knowing that someone cares is very therapeutic.
This section can also include links on alternative therapies e.g herbal, aromatherapy, holistic, acupuncture, home-made remedies etc etc.
AOL has a health section on it's boards and it's very popular with the members. There are no qualified persons there either, just members sharing their concerns.
And it would be a good idea if all health related threads are in one section.
Hope adminz like the idea.

My dad is a doctor. Besides that I am very familiar with the medical feild. Maybe someone on board is a doctor here. Maybe they can help us. sister Nadia that's a splendid idea!
Thank you Halima sis. That's great, I am sure you can give some valueable health-related advice. I agree with Charisma sis too as most of us know something about medicine and treatments. I really hope it takes off : )

i think thats a good idea, we can gather hadith that talks abt foods wich have medicinal value, n gather some sceintific information that supports these hadiths, so that ppl can take more natural medicine to heal themselves, its a good way of learning. We dont have to be necessary qualified MBBS doctors to advice abt medicine, there is also natural medcine that uses herbs wich had benefited many long before da world of modern medicine emerged in this world. I think this is idea is good if its carried out well n not carried away! Maybe u shld tie modern medicine and islamic medicine together as its an islamic forum after all? wad abt this? Yes its better becos da ppl will be sharing n they wont feel that they r alone.
