Here are some Mathematical problems that Hazrat Ali (R.A) solved while he
was Khalifa. He was known for his mathematical genius.

Enjoy reading them:

One Day a person came to Ali (RATA), thinking that since Ali thinks
he is too smart, I'll ask him such a tough question that he won't be
able to answer it and I'll have the chance to embarrass him in front
of all the Arabs.

He asked "Ali, tell me a number, that if we divide it by any number
from 1-10 the answer will always come in the form of a whole number
and not as a fraction." Ali Looked back at him and said, "Take the
number of days in a year and multiply it with the number of days in
a week and you will have your answer."

The person got astonished but as he was a Mushrik he still didn't
believe Ali (RATA). He calculated the answer Ali (AS) gave him. To
his amazement he came across the following results:

The number of Days in a Year = 360 (in Arabic Calendar)
The Number of Days in a Week = 7
The product of the two numbers = 2520
Now ...
2520 / 1 = 2520
2520 / 2 = 1260
2520 / 3 = 840
2520 / 4 = 630
2520 / 5 = 504
2520 / 6 = 420
2520 / 7 = 360
2520 / 8 = 315
2520 / 9 = 280
2520 / 10= 252

A person was about to die, and before dying he wrote his Will which
went as follows ...

"I have 17 Camels, and I have three sons. Divide my Camels in such a
way, that My eldest son gets half of them, the second one gets 1/3rd
of the total and my youngest son gets 1/9th of the total number of
Camels"
After his death when the relatives read his will they got extremely
perplexed and said to each other that how can we divide 17 camels
like this.

So after a long hard thought they decided that there was only one
man in Arabia who could help them: "Ali Ibne Abi Taalib."

So they all came to the door of Ali (RATA) and put forward their
problem.
Ali (RATA) said, "Ok. I will divide the camels as per the man's
will."
Ali (RATA) said, "I will lend one of my camels to the total which
makes it 18 (17+1=18), now lets divide as per his will"
The Eldest gets 1/2 of 18 = 9
The second one gets 1/3 of 18 = 6
and The Youngest gets 1/9 of 18 = 2
Now the total number of camels = 17
Then Ali (RATA) said, "Now I will take my Camel back"

masha'Allah bro jazak Allah khair for such an inspiring article :D

There is also another non mathematical one:

A man once challenged the wisdom of Ali (ra) - (because Prophet Mohammed(s) had said about Ali, Ana Madinatul ilm wa Ali un bab u ha - I am the city of knowledge and Ali is the door)

The man said, O Ali(r) if indeed you are so wise then tell me of all the animals who feed their young on milk and those who dont"
Ali(r) replied, Those with their ears on the outside feed their offspring on milk, while those animals with internal ears (not visible on the outside) feed their young by mouth"

:D

Salam
there is much more knowledge in our religion that we don't know.
Its sad that the west makes us think that they are advanced.

have a look at this:
Interesting Numerical Findings From the Holy Qur'an
By Dr. Tariq Al Swaidan

Tariq Al Swaidan discovered some verses in the Holy Qur'an that mention
one thing is equal to another, i.e. men are equal to women. Although this
makes sense grammatically, the astonishing fact is that the number of
times the word man appears in the Qur'an is 24 and the number of times
the word woman appears is also 24, therefore not only is this phrase correct
in the grammatical sense but also true mathematically, i.e. 24 = 24.

Upon further analysis of various verses, he discovered that this is
consistent throughout the whole Qur'an, where it says one thing is like
another. See below for astonishing results of the words mentioned number
of times in Arabic Qur'an:

Dunia (one name for this life) 115. Aakhirat (one name for the life after this
world) 115

Malaika (Angels) 88 . Shayteen (Satans or devils) 88

Life 145 .... Death 145

Benefit 50 . Corrupt 50

People 50 . Messengers 50

Eblees (king of devils, Lucifer) 11 . Seek refuge from Eblees 11

Museebah (calamity) 75 . Thanks 75

Spending (Sadaqah) 73 . Satisfaction 73

People who are misled 17 . Dead people 17

Muslimeen 41 . Jihad 41

Gold 8 . Easy life 8

Magic 60 . Fitnah (dissuasion, misleading) 60

Zakat (Taxes Muslims pay to the poor) 32 . Barakah (Increasing or
blessings of wealth) 32

Mind 49 . Noor 49

Tongue 25 . Sermon 25

Desite 8 . Fear 8

Speaking publicly 18 . Publicising 18

Hardship 114 .... Patience 114

Muhammed 4 . Sharee'ah (Muhammed's teachings) 4

Man 24. Woman 24

And amazingly enough have a look how many times the following words
appear:

Salat 5,

Month 12,

Day 365,

Sea 32, Land 13

Sea + land = 32+13= 45

Sea = 32/45*100=71.11111111%

Land = 13/45*100 = 28.88888889%

Sea + land =100.00%

Modern science has only recently proven that the water covers 71.111% of
the earth, while the land covers 28.889%.

oh no not again

I am so sorry i always call everyone bro - i usually dont check peoples genders and names

My apologies!
