I feel there should be an "unavailable" or "unspecified" option in selecting gender. Because it's best to remain anonymous gender-wise or it creates a lot of fitnah. There is always that thought at the back of our heads that this individual is of opposite gender. And it feels inappropriate when an individual advises any person from other gender .So if possible, please look into it. I saw some older members had their gender as "unspecified".
Or there should be any anonymous account through which we can post on any thread whether in general category or any other. And which should be available to only those who put their religion as islam, because there can be any ex muslim who can misuse it or other disbeliever who is a hater of islam.

The main reason why we kept gender selection as a required field is to keep the discussions between members of opposite genders more appropriate, to the point, and free of any idle chit-chat. It also helped in subsequently granting access to the private segregated sections.

We also wanted to control and limit the private message exchanges between the members of opposite genders.

Instead of adding an unspecified option, we may add an option to hide the display of user's gender selection on their profile and on the side of the posts.
