Its quite interesting to see a supposed "scholar" of Islam, who has learned from a rather good place such as Al Azhar, to leave Islam. I just read about this dude yesterday, he wrote his book in Arabic so I cant understand what his issues really are. Does this guy seem to be legit? Or is it same Coptic Christian propaganda by presenting this dude as the "imam" from Al Azhar? His name is Abbas AbdulNoor. Arabic readers can help me. Here is a link to his book http://www.scribd.com/doc/31124503/...s-an-exmuslim-My-Ordeal-With-the-Quran-Arabic

jazakAllah.

Al azhar has lost all its reputation anyway, it is just a bootlickers camp

Brother aadil don't be so quick in your judgement. Al Azhar still has some great scholars and defenders of Islam.

Brother Mad, Abbas abdul noor has been exposed by several scholars as well as a famous egyptian defender of Islam Dr. Ibrahim Awad, he is a profesor of Arabic Literary Criticism, here is the link of his website, but it is in arabic http://awad.phpnet.us/index.htm.

The man in question supposedly authored the book "me7naty ma3 el Quran" translation "My trouble with the Quran."

Dr. Ibrahim has great knwoledge of the tactics of missionaries and fabricated books that attempt to attack Islam. A few of the points that I recall briefly that he had identified about the man and his book are;

1) Abbas abdul noor, the name abdul noor(a common name they refer to Jesus(pbuh) with) is common amongst christian coptics not muslims.

2) He claims he was born in damanhour a city in egypt and that he was a famous professor of Islamic philosophy, yet according to Dr. Ibrahim Awad's knowledge no such individual exists, else he would be extremely famous and well known

3) The book contains several linguistic usages that are common in lebanese publishing companies, not egyptian as the book claims.

4) The author in several occasions quotes the christian gospels(in a positive way) to make sarcastic comments about destiny and Qadar.

Again, i reiterate to brother Aadil, Al Azhar has contributed an enormous effort in responding to the likes of the person in question(and the attacks of this type by christian arabs are enormous). Just because a few fatwa here or there, or the late sheikh tantawi (ra7imahu Allah) made mistakes, this does not mean Al Azhar and all of its people have lost their integrity. Another person who has great efforts in responding to coptic christians his name is Dr. Mohammed Emara.

@ brother mad, Surprisingly I have also randomly encountered this book first time on scribd, i wonder what makes it so common.

brother greykode: thank you for your suggestions. I still believe that Al-Azhar has some pious elements. My friend went there to learn Arabic and he told me that there are both camps, the sold out ones and those who love Allah. Allah knows best.

yes i do think this to be a work of crazy christian liars as they have proved they always do in the form of "ex Muslims"

Al Azhar is the first and oldest university in the entire world.. after it were places like Harvard and Yale fashioned ... there is going to be a major civil war in Egypt soon we can all feel it, the copts really are pushing to have their 'pharonic' egypt back and trying to seek help from the west.. and egypt in and of itself has become a land of much dajjal. but it still has its good people, they are just quiet and hidden, they mock them in every way including the programming of a supposed Islamic country portraying them as zionists at times or stupid harem keeping gits at others.. but that is the nature of evil it always loud and garish as a part of its definition? I wouldn't worry about Islam if I were you Allah swt will protect his religion for it is the true path of conquered and conqueror alike-- we would have succumbed to crusaders and Mongols alike were it not for Allah swt mercy and those who keep the faith .. I'd worry about Muslims however many of whom are terribly undereducated with it comes to their deen..

Assalamu alaikum sister,

Eid mubarak and Jazakillah khair for passing by.

I sincerely advise u to check out Dr. Ibrahim Awad's website, he is most likely the most intellectual defender of Islam in Egypt, him and Dr. Mohammed Selim El Awwa.
