Assalamu Alaikum.

I currently pray five times a day but I also heard you can also offer extra salat. Is this true? If so, can someone please state what time of the day I can offer more salat...

There are the 5 fard, required prayers, and there are many additional prayers that the Prophet (saws) prayed that are optional but recommended for we believers. Here are some off the top of my head, in no way is this the complete list:

1. Sunnah prayers - additional rakat we pray before and after the fard prayers.

2. Nafl salat - voluntary prayers, such as tajahud/qiyam al layal (praying at night) and duha, a prayer in the mid morning.

I know there are more prayers, but I believe these are the most common of the extra prayers.
