This is a website dedicated to presenting comprehensive information in the English language on the Barelviya group which ascribes itself to the mainstream Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah but in reality is closer to Shia'ism.
Barelviya (Barelvism) is a sect with its roots in the Indian sub-continent. It is named after its founder Molvi Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (born 1856). The Barelvis claim to follow the Quran and Sunnah as understood by the pious early Muslims (Salaf-us-Saliheen), classical Sunni scholars and the Hanafi madhab. The material presented in this website will show that these are all just meaningless claims and how they are infact in opposition to all of them. Their innovated beliefs and practices are rooted in superstition and folklore.
The Barelvis are a great threat to the simple minded Sunni Muslims because they champion slogans of Sunni Islam and love of the Prophet (salallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) whilst their beliefs are in reality infested with shirk (polytheism) and bid’ah (religious innovations) that directly oppose the fundamentals of Islam.
The makers of this website intend to use it to compile the academic Sunni responses to the beliefs and practices of this group, it will also present in the English language what is written in the books of Barelvi scholars, and (in’sha’Allah) will also host translations of short speeches highlighting the reality of how far Barelvis are from the pure beliefs and practices of Ahlus Sunnah.
