I originally wrote this in response to someone who has been writing poetry praising a bollywood actress (na udhu billah) in the hope of offering naseeha and inspiration insha Allah. I know it could've been better. Hopefully will work on it sometime insha Allah.
'Untitled'
O Allah, they love You not as they love those whom You created
They chase the beautiful faces that shall rot in death’s embrace
Do they not see that the beauty they admire came from Your Hands?
That it is only You, who is worthy of all praise?
How misplaced is their false adoration, a blind path
That leads to nowhere but self-destruction
It is only You, who is The Incomparable, TheSublime
Only You who is worthy of the painful longings that hearts behold
My soul saw You long before I entered this world
I vowed then, and I vow now, that only You are my Lord
It is You I long to be with, in my eternal abode
I Miss You O Allah....
My heart is Yours, and my life is Yours
My praise is for You only, my remembrance is Yours
And I imagine the Day I will see Your Beautiful Face
Light upon Light and Grace upon Grace
Your signs are on Earth, in the heavens, and Beyond
But there is one sign that is hidden from all but Thee
My heart...
My heart O Lord! It cries for You
All I want is to be with You
But my longing is tormented by fear of my sins
I feel not worthy of Your Paradise
And it is because Your mercy prevails over Your wrath
That hope dares to orbit my shame and regret
And I hold onto it tight refusing to let go
My Lord... My Lord! You know I love You!
So purify me of all my sins, hidden and known
And make me worthy of Thee
No image resides in my heart – no perishable face
Only the longing to see Your Beautiful Face
So bless me with seeing You on the Day of Recompense
In all Your Perfection and Glory – pleased with me
Just so... just so that, I will never be far from You again
But be with You forever, in Your Jannah for eternity
Ameen
