when we help someone we are obviously spreading goodwill and positivity
peoples hearts are affected ,which brings about genuine prayers from within

this applies to both muslims and non muslims

its a natural balance of the universe
by allah taalas will
it may be apparent or indirect
instant or delayed

A few days ago, I was helping a homeless guy, and I said to him afterwards, in years to come, when you are back on your feet, you may be able to help a stranger also. If you do then you pass on a kindness.
