Many popular snacks contain some sort of questionable ingredient that falls under the "difference of opinion" category. Is the cheese in doritos haram? What about skittles - no cheese, so can I eat those?
Some argue that cheese itself is always halal. What is the ruling on deriving rennet? Was the animal slaughtered according to shareeah? What are the guidelines of the shariah?
And can we eat the meat products from the people of the book? After all, the Qur'an speaks about the issue directly:

"This day all good things have been made lawful for you. And the food of the People of the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them..." (Surat al-Maidah: 6).

So why does Apa insist that doritos and skittles are haram...?
Don't miss your opportunity to learn about the sources of all the differences of opinions on halal meat. Attend Precious Provisions - The Fiqh of Food and Clothing in Maryland (April 2-4) and Montreal (April 30-May 2) taught by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi.
