Am i a bad muslim?

Hey guys,

So today at work we had a xmas lunch/dinner

After which the guys and girls went to a casino (all were playing but me as i didnt knw what to do but then just to be social i had a go and thought if i win anything it will go to charity...


Before you judge me i didnt do it with intention of winning money or anything like that simply to be social .. i had one go.

Im not sure if u understand me but its a bit like when you go to the pub to be social but just have otange juice..


I feel like im not a good muslim bcus if i was i wouldnt do this ???

You might have not abstained completely by refusing to go to the place to avoid whatever is in there like temptation, but if you didn't played a game like doing it with a dice, then it's alright. It's better to stay away from that place. You may have learned something of course. That's good.
 
I would be better for you not to be in such places. But you did not go of with the intent of doing something bad and you tried your best to avoid gambling (and I trust you did not drink either).
So I believe saying you are a bad muslim for going with your co-worker is too strong a word. Repent and next time try to avoid going to such places.

If it goes against your conscience then you should not do it. You need to build up your level of self independence and reliance and find more useful people to be sociable with, preferable other muslims or at least females who are more conservative and don't do what the rest of society does. And if you cannot find anyone then it is ok to be alone. Gambling is haram even if you win and want to give it to charity.
 
My religion is all over the place at the moment (not sure if it even is there) but my team wanted to go to for a Christmas party and everyone has been saving money for 6 months (£10 a month per person) so they all had £60 at least to go out and get absolutely sloshed. My 2 Muslim colleagues are also going - both drink.

I said no though. I don't celebrate Xmas nor do I want to go to a bar where everyone will be smashed. I am sure they laughed me and mocked me for not going when the 2 other guys are going but who cares. I don't live with them nor do I see them everyday.

It's nice to be social and you should but don't do anything you don't want to do or feel uncomfortable doing. Stand your ground.

PS. Did you win?
 
Haha no i didnt win although i wanted to so that i could give the money to charity but then felt crap for losing because the money that was used to play could have been given to charity instead.

This life is hard sometimes .... but i had the right intention so hopefully i wont be punished for this.

When i had finished Ramadan my colleagues orderd lots of food to celebrate me having completed the month of ramadan and so for that reason i like being a part of their happiness too and making an effort with them but obv not crossing my limits etc.

An-Nawwas Bin Sam'an (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Piety is good manner, and it is the one that creates doubt and you do not like people to know it."

So since you still feel inside of you that what you have done is "good" or "bad" you are still on the right track and Allah loves you
