Assalaam O Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!​

Amiability!

Whoever lacks amiability with people and finds it in seclusion, verily he is a truthful but feeble character​

Whoever finds it with people and lacks it in seclusion, surely he is an ailing one.​

Whoever lacks it with both people and in seclusion, surely, his character is dead.​

Whoever finds it both in seclusion and with people surely he is an affectionate, truthful and strong character. ​

He who finds delight in seclusion, cannot have more delight except in seclusion, and he who finds delight with people by advising and guiding them, cannot have more delight except in their company. ​

Finally, whoever finds delight with whatever Allah has willed for him, more delight will be granted to him both in seclusion and in the company of people. ​

Thus the most honorable condition is to submit to the will of Allah. The same light exists in the pure hearts that is found in nature, as it brightens from the laws of Allah.​

Allah, the exalted, says​

يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِيءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌ ​

which means: ....whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself), though no fire touched it. ...
(An-Nur, 24:35)​

The above quotation from the learned Islamic scholar Ibn al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyya
Is not true and cannot be accepted as such. Time has changed and it has changed fast. What may seem wrong to one group of people may be right for another group of people and this is not restricted to groups. It can happen on individual basis as well.
Let me give you an example “a man for whatever reason finds amiability with people and is a social person. He is very true to people and helps out other human beings and everyone looks unto him. But let’s suppose he has no family and no one to look after him. He is alone in this world. In such a case he doesn't find peace in his life when he is alone." Are we going to brand him as a weirdo or someone the society should shun and just calling him a ailing person would that hurt him emotionally or would that brighten him? I am certain this attitude or behavior of calling someone or branding him as ailing person will be looked down upon by Allah. Quran says " Innnalha Yuhibul Mohsaneen" """Allah love those who are mohsin""" meaning Allah is with those who are doer of good to others. That doesn't mean if he is doing good to others his own life should also be peaceful and he should attain amiability. Who knows what that person is going through? So in all circumstances this argument cannot be true. This is absurd argument and I totally reject it.

Now let’s talk about a person who does find peace and amiability in seclusion and doesn't find with people.
This is again a natural and social phenomenon and a person who finds peace and amiability alone can also find truth and can be closer to Allah than a person who is a social animal. It does not mean that a person who likes the life of seclusion is of feeble character. This is absurd and cannot be true in all circumstances. Maybe he is avoiding people because the group of people he doesn't want to associate with them as they might lead him to the wrong path and away from siratul mustaqeen.
Take the example of Hazrat Loot Alay Salam. At one time he and his family were finding it difficult to adjust and adapt in the environment in which the people of his town were indulging in abomination looked down by Allah. So they have secluded themselves and were finding truth and peace in their house. Would anyone consider them of feeble character? Only the miscreants would.
As such I believe everyone has a right to differ from what Islamic scholars. Maybe they were right in their saying in their particular time but not in all times to follow. Also, everyone has a right to differ with me of what i have written above.
May Allah guide us all to his right path and guide our heart in the ways of our prophet s.a.w.
