Are there any differences between Shirkul Akbar and Shirkul Asghar and if so, what are they?
Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan [hafidhahullah] mentioned in Aqeedatu-Tawheed:
1.Shirkul Akbar: Exits one from the Millah [religion of Islaam] and Shirkul Asghar does not exit one from the millah but it does diminish Tawheed.
2. Shirkul Akbar causes the perpetrator of it to abide in the hellfire FOREVER, and Shirkul Asghar does not cause the perpetrator of it to abide in the fire forever if he enters it.
3.Shirkul Akbar nullifies all of the actions, and Shirkul Asghar does not nullify all of the actions, indeed it is only nullified by Riyaa and the action that is done for the purpose of [receiving a worldy beneft] is that which ii is mixed with only.
4.Shirkul Akbar makes ones blood and wealth permissible [to take] and Shirkul Asghar does not make [his blood and wealth] permissible.
