are you allowed in masjid?

if a women is on her periods is she allowed to enter a masjid just for a lecture etc. im having a big debate about this with my mum who thinks its blasphemy even mentioning it. surely it cant be that bad?:X

you cant go inot the masjid masjid to listen to a lecture but you can enter parts that are attached to the masjid and not actually considered the masjid.
