Behind Enemy Lines
They say the enemy is Islam
It preaches violence and hatred
It teaches chauvinism,
It denounces freedom,
They say the enemy is Islam!
Will they go behind enemy lines
And see what that enemy says?
And learn how precious Islam is
How just; how right?
How peaceful; how perfect?
For surely in the Quran,
Allah doth command the Muslims
To honor their promises….
Is that the enemy?!
To be gentle and kind with their parents
To respect them and pray for them
When they reach old age….
Is that the enemy?
Does not Allah say that
“Verily, man is in loss,
except for those who have faith and do good,
and join together the mutual teaching of
truth and patience?”
Is that the enemy?!
Is it not written in the Holy Book,
That a servant of Allah is the one
Who walks modestly, and when called upon
By the ignorant, addresses them with “peace?”
Is that the enemy?!
Is it not written that a Muslim shall not speak ill of a brother
Nor a sister; shall not back bite?
Are they not commanded to help the needy,
Be kind with orphans, help their neighbors,
To deal with justice?
Is that the enemy?!
Will they not go behind enemy lines?
And find that the enemy is not an enemy
But the perfect solution to all?
