As former gamer. I can tell you there are obviously many haram elements, while you may have heard fatwa from scholars that it is permissible.
But you really need to be very careful. Especially video game addictions and multi player games are worst.

To parents. You should know that it is your duty to teach children according to islam. You need to keep them away from harmful environment and other including video games.
To young people, think. Is it really useful? Do you think it will help you closer to Allah, you will stsnd before Allah on day of Judgement. So avoid gaming and focus on what is beneficial. You can go for sport as it is healthy way
