Can an Imam lead an obligatory prayer (Friday ) twice or thrIce.

In some European countries and United States Friday prayers are offered at different times in the same mosque e.g., at 12.30, then at 1.30 and then at 2.30 pm. Can an Imam lead all these three prayers. If for him 2 are Naufil then there are two questions 1. Can nafil prayers be offered in jamaat and 2. What about the people's obligatory prayers behind an Imam offering nafil prayers.

According to Imam Ash Sherqat Yes, it is OK to lead or perform the Jumu’ah or any other daily prayer twice for a reason. Acceptable reasons could be like having no other Imam etc.


2. Can nafil prayers be offered in jamaat .Yes it is permissible isha Allaah and there's ample proofs in the sunnah for it.

3 What about the people's obligatory prayers behind an Imam offering nafil prayers. Yes it is permissible according to Imam Abdul Aziz bin baaz رحمه الله in his Fataawa Al Kubrah.
