Can you ever sin when complaining?

I know when we are complaining it is allowed but what if when you are frustrated and you have tried to resolve an issue you have with a brother or sister but that person isnt realizing what they done and they keep harming you. They are very toxic and they spoke I'll about you. Are you allowed to complain to your mother to vent and say that person who oppressed you is horrible? Or is this backbiting?
